Me, Eden and Emily (a Bensler fanfic)

The first 2 years went by with ups and downs. At one point the doctor and olivia thought it may be working but the last 3 months had begun to shatter the hope they had built up.

The twins were 6 now but thier 6th birthday had been spent in Edens new more permanent hospital room. Eden had lost all her hair by now but olivia and elliot helped to make her feel a little better about it by getting her a wig that looked similar to Emily's hair.

For the moment amanda and fin were with Eden and Emily in the hospital room while the doctor took olivia and elliot to his office to discuss next steps and test results.

Dr. Hanson sat at his desk as the couple sat cross from him. "I'm afraid the tumor is still growing at an excelerated rate."

"How is that possible it was only 5 months ago you said it was shrinking." Olivia sighed.

"Some times cells can do that its not proven why just that it happens but now it seems to be growing faster than before." Hanson continued. "The test results also show she has a much lower platelet count then she did at the beginning of the month." He sighed.

"So what does all this mean for Eden?" Elliot asked rubbing a hand down his face from stress.

"If the tumor does not start to shrink again and if her platelet count does not level out....I'm afraid she may have no more than 6 to 8 months left." Dr. Hanson replied.

Olivia shook her head with tears welling in her eyes "no ....no maybe the tests are wrong. Mistakes happen" she said feeling elliot put an arm around her but she pulled away a bit and put her face in her hands.

"We ran it 3 times to be sure and it came out the same." Dr. Hanson said sadly.

Olivia sat crying for the umpteenth time over the last 2 years.

After finally getting Olivia as calm as possible the two finally headed back to Edens hospital room. Olivia went into sit with her girls holding them both close and tight as she could.

Elliot took amanda and fin out to the hall and told them what they had learned. The 4 adults had become close friends ever since elliot and olivia started working at svu only 8 months after they found out about Edens cancer. Olivia hadn't been there alot due to being the only legal guardian to the girls now that Ben was in prison.

Amanda and fin each hugged elliot and then each other since olivia and her girls had become like family to them. But they left soon after knowing the family of 4 could use the time alone together.

Eden was holding on to her mother and sister and said "mama are you crying again?....is it bad?"

Olivia kissed her daughters soft dark blonde hair and said "it's ok sweetheart mamas just...tired." She said wiping away her stray tears. "How about me and you and Emmy just watch some cartoons ok?" She put on her best fake smile as she put on the little mermaid for her twins and kept an arm over each of them as elliot walked back in.

Ove the next month or so eden seemed to be getting worse. She was tired more and slowly began forgetting things and even some people. It made her so self conciouse when her mother or elliot had to remind her who fin and amanda were and once she even had a hard time remembering elliot.

"Mommy I'm tired I don't want to play anymore." Eden said as she set her dolls on the table as Emily looked at her "but edie we just started" she huffed. Since they had only been playing for 20 or 30 minutes.

Elliot sighed and picked up 6 year old Emily and said "why don't me and you go to the park and let mama and eden rest ok princess?"

"Yeah...ok" Emily said sadly as she left with Elliott.

"Why is she always so mad at me? I want to play just not right now." Eden whimpered as she curled up under her blanket.

"She's not mad baby, just sad." Olivia said.

Eden rolled over and looked at her mother "mama....is everyone sad because I'm gonna die?"

Olivia knew she'd be asked this question again eventually but she was unsure weather to tell her the truth. "Baby...i..."

"Mama please tell me the truth." She said as tears welled in her eyes.

Olivia sighed "you might sweetheart but I promise the doctors and us are doing everything we can in hopes of helping you my love."

Eden cried and shook her head but fell asleep without realizing it.

Olivia silently cried and stroked her daughters hair knowing she would not have her babygirl for much longer.
