I can't believe it's been two whole years. Even as she talks it's pretty surreal that THE Anui Khoul, my best friend, was back in America and standing in front of me.

"Stop staring at me like I'm some kind of ghost."

I laugh "Sorry but it's still crazy that you came back, I thought you'd be in Sudan forever."

When Anui's mom threatened to send her back to Africa I thought it was a joke at first. It wasn't until I got a WhatsApp call that I found out she had left. No goodbye. No warning. Her mom put her on a plane and left her with her grandparents.

I've held a grudge against her mother ever since, but try my best to remain civil with her, just in case she felt like shipping me abroad too.

"I'm just glad you're back, it was hell not having you here" hell is an understatement. Without Anui I was left vunerable to June's tournamenting. Usually Anui would be the one to defend me if he was bothering me, I was extremely shy back then, and still kind of am, so speaking up for myself is not my style.

Anui on the other hand..."Yea, I actually didn't mind Sudan, I don't think my mom realized that boys are everywhere in the world, and I'll still find a way to get down and dirty" she giggles.

From what she explained to me, her mom caught her sneaking boys into her home at two in the morning one day. With a fear of her daughter getting pregnant, she sent her to South Sudan to be disciplined. I don't think she thought it through considering her parents were of very old age and that she's their little princess, giving her permission to do whatever she pleased.

I'm just glad her antics didn't bring a baby home.

"By the way, as soon as I see that asshole, he's dead Mir! Dead I tell you! He still doesn't know when to back the fuck up and it's time he's learned his lesson!"

I nodded my head and bit my lip. The thought of Anui and June encountering  each other again is something I don't look forward to. After her departure he was stoked, if he sees her he'll fume. They've never gotten along. All because of me.

"I hope so" I sigh.

"Mir you don't seem excited for this boy's beat down, you're hiding something, what is it!" She grabs me by my shoulders until our nose are touching.

This girl...

"Nothing, I just don't want you to get hurt, that's all" I state. While it is true, I'm just not sure how I feel about it all. June asked for me to give him a chance to change. I don't really believe him, but would it be wrong for me to give it a try? What if I'm overreacting and he actually does want to fix himself? Then again...He isn't displaying acts of a changed man. My mother tells me that forgiving is a good thing...But this is June we're talking about. My bully since the ninth grade. I don't know what his problem was with me, ever since I met him he's been everything but a good man.

"You're hiding something!" She gets up and grabs my phone, "I won't give this back until you tell me what it is!"

"Come back!" I stand up and start chasing her. It's like she's become more childish than before.

"Nanana boo boo!" She squeals.

South Sudan did nothing but make things worse!
