I never thought something like it would happen until news stories struck out about people going cannibalism and eating other people. They said it was the dead rising. It was until a few weeks after it started that the walkers started coming into our neighborhood banging on doors and busting through windows. All I could hear was screaming. Nothing else. Then, they started banging on our door. I was freaking out so I snatched the katana my dad kept on his wall and put it on my back in its case. By the time I got down stairs, it was too late. Some walkers were on my mom eating the guts out of her and one had just bit my dad on the shoulder. I sliced all of the walkers to pieces. "Daddy!" I screamed. "Brooke, behind you." He said. I immediately sliced the walker's head in half. "Brooke, go and be safe." That was my father's last words. I heard on the news that the only way to kill them completely is to destroy the brain. I pointed my sword at my father's head and stood there. "Daddy, I'm sorry." I said sliding my sword back in its case and ran away and into the woods, slicing every walker I see. Everything's gone. I have nothing. No food, no clothes. I have to go back. I thought to myself so I ran back to my house. I gasped as I saw two walkers feeding off my father. I sliced my katana through both of them. It was disgusting. I ran upstairs and grabbed my book bag. I took out all of my school stuff and threw it across my room. I had to be quick. I grabbed a picture of me and my family. Omg, My baby sister! I quickly ran into her room. A walker was just about to get her but I quickly sliced it. Luckly, no guts fell on her. I grabbed her and took her to my room. She was still asleep. You must be thinking she's a baby. No, she's not. To me she is, but she's seven. I laid her on my bed but she woke up. "Great! Chloe, get up and come on." I screamed. "What's going on? Where's mom and dad?" She asked. I just stared at her and she knew. A tear fell down her cheek. She's more mature than most seven year olds so I'm trusting her with a knife and a gun. She knows how to use one because my uncle taught us. "Here take this. Don't use the gun unless you really have to. The sound attracts walkers." I said handing her both. "I have daddys katana and I'll keep ammo and food in my bag." I told her. "Only aim for the brain." I told her. "Only the brain." She repeated. "You ready?" I asked her. "No, but let's go." She said getting up. I'm so glad I came back for her. I wasn't thinking. Ugh, I'm stupid. We didn't run into any walkers until we got to the road. I told Chloe to stay close to me. "I can't reach them." She said trying to stab them. "You can stab them up their chin." I told her. She tried and it worked. "Good one Chloe." I said. We ran into the woods. It felt like miles of walking when we finally found an old house. "Chloe, looks like we have a new home." I said. We walked inside and their were two walkers. One was weak so I told Chloe to get it. I got the other one, but I just stabbed him in the head. We dragged the bodies outside, then, sealed the door so the walkers wouldn't get in. "I never thought I'd see this bloody." I said showing Chloe the katana. "Me either." She said. There was a small bed in the corner so I told Chloe to get some rest. I stayed up to make sure no walkers go through the door. I laid the bag of food and ammo by the bed and found a chair so I brought it in front of the door and sat on it. I can't afford to see anymore of my loved ones die. I may only be thirteen, but it's time for me to grow up.
