I woke up in a bed. A hospital bed. I tried to get up but I was attached to machines. Was that all just a nightmare? That world didn't have all this stuff. I was brought back to reality when Maggie walked into the room. "Maggie?" I asked squinting my eyes. "Where are we?" "Some survivors found us. They have this town. It's been secure since it all started. They have doctors, a school." I stared at her. She walked over to me and sat on the end of the bed. "How long have I been out?" I asked her. "A week. Maybe two." "Why couldn't Dr. Tim help me?" I asked. Maggie's head dropped. "No." I said, my eyes beginning to water. "This guy attacked the orphanage. He.. he beheaded him. Just like the governor did to my dad." She said. "Carl shot the guy in his head." "Did we lose anyone else?" I asked. She shook her head which relieved some of the pain. It was quiet for a while. "You know, there was a point when Beth was suicidal. I know you two were really close." Maggie said. "I'm not suicidal." "Yes you are. You almost let the walkers tear into your flesh. Do you know how Michonne is feeling right now?" My eyes started to sting. "Um, can you get the doctors to come unhook me so I can go see Lexie?" Maggie nodded and walked out. When she came back she was with a man in a blue coat. The doctor. He gave me a release and I quickly ran outside. The town was huge. It had a lot of people and it was bigger than Woodbury. I quickly ran across the street to Michonne. She led me to the apartment we shared and sure enough, there was Lexie. "Brooke!" She squealed happily. I ran to her, embracing her with a hug. "Brooke, please don't die. I.. I wuv you." She said. I remember what I had promised Chloe. That I wouldn't let anything happen to her. Well, I let her down. I'm not making any promises with Lexie. I have learned my lesson. I will protect her more than I protect myself. I can't lose anyone else.
