Alexis in MM
* 2 1/2 YEARS LATER *
- Gabriel
"It's almost someone's birthday!" I said, only a little lower than a yell. I pulled all of Alexis' clothes off and placed her in the bathtub.
"It water?" She asked, splashing. I smiled and nodded in return.
"Yes, baby. It's water." She played with her tub toys while I sat and took pictures of her in the bath. My baby's gotten so big, nearly two years old already.
Reggie and I eventually moved out and found ourselves a decent apartment in LA. He got a job at Wal-Mart, stocking shelves and unloading boxes. And I'm a waitress at Mélisse, the restaurant he took me to on my birthday.
Our lives have been pretty steady and easy. We don't have to worry like we used to, and our jobs are doing us enough to afford everything for right now.
Our apartment is a two bed, one bath, and it's just right for us. We have our room and Alexis has hers, which is soon to be shared with her soon-to-come little sibling. Reggie's super excited about the baby, since it is actually his, and I'm pretty excited too.
All of our friends got apartments too, and nice jobs, and actually don't live too far away. Essence and Maya broke up about a year ago, and constantly fight. Noo-Noo and Marcus share an apartment with Stacy and Kylan, and from what I know, they're getting along pretty well. Tommy lives with his new girlfriend, Rebecca, some girl he met at his job.
Reggie and I have discussed marriage, and he said he's ready. We've been together over two years and have two children, and he says it's about time to tie the knot.
While I couldn't agree more, I'm actually a little nervous. I never thought that, at only 19, I'd have two kids and a husband, living in LA. It's a life I wouldn't even think about having, considering my old living conditions.
All I wanted was to get out of that house, but I never thought of how I'd live once I did. I wouldn't know anything about working, have anywhere to live, hell I didn't even know how to drive. I'd probably be stuck there for the rest of my life with those evil people.

My baby's birthday party is tomorrow all I've been doing today is buying decorations, candy and toys. For her first birthday, our money wasn't quite right and we couldn't afford a party, so this year I have no idea what to buy. I've never been to a child's birthday party.
I was walking around Wal-Mart with Alexis, grabbing little toys and bags of candy, when I ran into Reggie taking things from boxes and putting them on the shelves.
"Daddy!" Lexi pointed.
"Hey baby! How my girls doing?" He asked, taking Alexis from the buggy and kissing her cheek. I swear she can't get enough of him.
"We're fine. How's work?" I said.
"It's work." He shrugged. I nodded and picked up the bags from the buggy.
"Are these good enough to put in the goody bags?" I asked him. He looked and nodded.
"Yea babe, they're fine. What kinda games you gonna get?"
"Why should I get games? The babies are all gonna be like three and aren't really going to know what's going on. Letting them run around the park around is enough if you ask me." I placed the bags back into the buggy and pulled Alexis away from him.
"Kisses." He puckered his lips and Lexi kissed them. I kissed them too and turned the buggy around, walking back the opposite way. "Bye y'all." I waved my hand and continued walking.

"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Lexi, happy birthday to you!" Everyone sang in unison. Reggie and I were able to pull together a pretty good party for Alexis. She seems extremely happy, although she doesn't know why or what's going on.
"Blow out your candles, baby!" Reggie tells Lexi. She tries to blow but her small breaths aren't enough to put out the candles, so I help. Everyone shouts 'yay!' when they're out, and we begin to cut the cake.
As soon as everyone's seated, we decide that it's time to tell everyone the big news.
"Excuse me everyone. There's something I need to say." I say, quieting everyone down. Everybody looks up at Reggie and I, waiting to hear the news.
"We're pregnant!" We yell in unison. Everyone's face is filled with excitement, then come the 'woohoos' and the 'congratulations'.
"Thanks everyone. It's truly a blessing to have Gabriel award me with another beautiful child." Reggie speaks. I smile at him, watching his eyes with mine. I can see the love he has for me, and God don't I love him too.
"No problem, baby." I say, kissing him long and hard on the lips.
