Chapter Two
Evergreen
He was tall with silky looking brown hair. His eyes were the same color as mine, and he both intrigued and bothered me. He was ready to kill without warning, but he didn't seem like a killer. He was a puzzle to me. One I thought I'd never get a chance to solve.
It was at times like these when I thought of my mother. Would she have tried to put the pieces together or just left it alone? I longed for her touch just a moment longer. I hated how her life had ended. Murdered by a masked hunter as she was defending our beloved cottage. She had scared him away, and he never showed up again. That was after he took a piece of my heart with him. I hated remembering. I hated recalling. It was moments like these that I wished I could forget.
