I could feel something was wrong with me even as Evergreen embraced me and smiled brightly. Something was off. Something was different.
I couldn't put my finger on it. It was a feeling of uncertainty, the smell of doubt.
I should have been happy. We were a team again. Yet... I had this lingering feeling that my business with the queen wasn't done. A new seed was planted in my soul, dark and thorny. Yes, something was very, very wrong.
