Chapter Forty Two

Brikwood

The wall is torn down. Our two clans are reunited. Peace is restored. Many grand celebrations were held, although I couldn't recall what occurred at any of them. My life has been reduced to the following routine: wake up, eat, cry, work, eat, cry, sleep. Nothing else mattered without Evergreen.
As of now, I was watering the flowers in her garden as I had been doing for the last few weeks now. It must have been what she would have wanted.
The mother and baby dear did indeed come by the cottage every morning. I smiled at the memory. As the days went on, I felt myself becoming more and more numb to the outside world.
What was the point now without Evergreen? I didn't take much notice of my frequent changes in appearance. Sometimes, I would wake up as a bear. Other times, I would find myself as a fly. Let me be a fly then! At least it would be a physical demonstration of how small my life had become!
My self isolation continued until the day I received inssensent knocking on my front door. It was one of the rare days I managed to keep myself I'm my human form. I shoved open the door with a scowl. Then I gasped.
"Evergreen?"
