BAFANA MESULI MAJOLA

Today was the day of our first date with Ntokozo. I was planning on taking her to dinner somewhere nice and classy, something good for my woman. So I made a reservation at The 11th Floor Restaurant in Bedfordview. I ordered a dress for from a boutique that my mom usually buys from. It was a red mini dress, with long sleeve and a little split hem on the side. I added a matching coat too since the weather isn't so good lately and shoes.

Sqalo: "Ay bafo, I'm happy to see you so inlove. Phela wena I don't know you to be this kind and romantic nje."

Me: "Mxm! It's clear ukuthi awungazi ngempela." he chuckles shaking his head.

Sqalo: "Have fun but not too much fun mfana!" he says before grabbing his keys and bag and leaves. He is working a nightshift today hence he is leaving now.

We walk inside the place hand in hand, a waiter welcomes us and leads us to our table. He takes our drinks order and leaves us with the menus.

Me: "Cha umuhle baby." I say kissing her hand. She smiles at me, blushing.

Ntokozo: "Thank you babe."

Me: "I want us to have more of these, I love it." she smiles nodding. The waiter places our drinks in front of us and walks off after taking our starter's order.

Ntokozo: "Me too."

Me: "So... tell me, where is home?"

Ntokozo: "Home in Free State but I only go home during my work leave period, at the start of each year."

Me: "It must be hard being so far from home?"

Ntokozo: "Yeah hey."

Me: "I can't imagine myself staying away for so long from my family." I say chuckling.

Ntokozo: "I've noticed." she also chuckles.

Me: "Plus, I'm a mama's boy through and through. i'm not ashamed to mention that." I tell her smiling.

Ntokozo: "You shouldn't vele, our mothers are our rocks."

Me: "Yes!" she clears her throat after sipping her wine and puts her glass down aside before she folds her arms on the table and stares at me.

Ntokozo: "I would like for us to have a serious talk." she smiles briefly.

Me: "Okay? You're scaring me."

Ntokozo: "Are you sure about this relationship?"

Me: "Yes babe."

Ntokozo: "Are you sure you're not using me as a rebound?"

Me: "What?"

Ntokozo: "I mean, just a few months ago, I used to annoy you. I saw it all the time in your face but I still kept being nice to you. The day I asked for a lift from you, you took me with, on your wild goose chase for that girl at the call centre. A day later, we had s*x and you rejected me. Weeks later, you come back and are suddenly serious about starting a relationship with me?" I keep quiet. I mean when she puts everything like that it shows just how selfish I was.

Me: "Baby..."

Ntokozo: "Listen to me Fah, I also know that you quit working at Spar to go work at the same call centre as that girl. Now tell me, I am crazy."

Me: "Honestly I don't even know what was I thinking runnibg after that girl. I talked to my brother and he made me see reason."

Ntokozo: "He convinced you to date me? Poor little desperate girl who will turn into your fool nje?!"

Me: "Baby, come on. You're not a fool."

Ntokozo: "Listen Bafana, I thought about all this long and hard last night. I don't want to be used as a rebound. I also talked to my sister and I don't want to end up being hurt or taken advantage of."

Me: "I would never babe, I promise. Please just give me a chance? Please." she keeps quiet for sometime. The waiter comes with our food and places it on the table before leaving. She just starts eating. Well, what a date!

*********

Ntokozo: "I am so tired." she says taking off her shoes as soon as we get into my apartment. We managed to talk things out and we are giving us a chance. We both agreed on her sleeping over here tonight.

Me: "Let's go take a shower together?" I say as soon as we get into my room.

Ntokozo: "Okay." I help her undress and she helps me undress.      After our shower, we get under the covers and cuddle.

Ntokozo: "Bafana."

Me: "Hmm?"

Ntokozo: "Please don't play with my heart and don't make me a fool."

Me: "I won't baby, I promise." she nods.

Ntokozo: "So what are you planning to do with yourself since you quit your jobs?"

Me: "I haven't really thought of anything." she turns her head and stares at me.

Ntokozo: "If you don't know what job to do then why not go study something you love?"

Me: "I just don't like school babe."

Ntokozo: "You don't like school or you're just lazy? I'm sorry but is that what you will tell your kids in future? that it's okay to not go to school?"

Me: "Babe, many people are living just good without going to school."

Ntokozo: "I'm not being rude but you can't be sitting at home relaxing just because you have inheritance or a trust fund. You're a man and man are providers so you will have to look after your family in future. Let that motivate you to become a better man and make something of yourself. You will have kids one day, they will look up to you and I'm sure you wouldn't want them leaving off an inheritance only and not know or understand the concept of hardwork."

Me: "I hear you baby." she smiles and lays back on my chest.

Ntokozo: "I swear, I'm not being rude. Education is important, whether you're street smart or not."
