Chapter Twenty Four-All Eyes
My discharge from the hopsital came only two days later. I was ordered to take it easy and to only focus on school.
I was glad. I needed a mundane life for once. My whole senior year had been a rollercoaster of up and downs and I finally hit a solid medium.
Happy I had my two sets of parents, all my great friends, and my future after high school. But I was still unsure of what I felt for Mason, and the fate of the aquarium was sealed and I would lose a piece of me in less than two weeks.
Now I was settled back in my turquoise room. The windows drawn open as I let the cool beach breeze in.
"Ally Doll, you have a visitor." Dad said.
I frowned, "I thought Raven and Elliot were coming this weekend?"
"They are." Dad said as he grew rigid.
Dad wasn't too keen on having to share me now. I understood, but you deal with the hands you have.
A knock on my door pulled my attention away from dad, "Hey princess." Mason smiled instead of smirked.
It was a nice smile...
"Mason." I breathed. Dad cleared his throat loudly snapping us out of it. Whatever it was.
"Can you kids please go downstairs and talk." Dad grunted emphasizing we were still kids. I secretly smiled and agreed.
I lead Mason to the back patio. He sat down and waited for me. However I couldn't bring myself to sit down. I was on edge.
Why did Mason come? The truth was out. The aquarium was closing officially in two weeks.
As far as I was concerned, we were done. He got Aunt Chrissy's word that he would go to a college that wasn't his dad's alma mater.
The bad boy gets to go to culinary school...and I go off after high school.
That was the end of our story.
The End....Fin....Goodbye. Right?
"I'm glad you know the truth now." he said breaking me out of my reverie.
I nodded, "Thanks for telling me Mase. What are you doing here anyway?" I asked and nearly slapped myself for sounding so hostile.
Mason sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, "We need to talk...about everything."
"I don't under-"
"Allyson Grace Craine." he cut me off, "I finally found out your middle name. It's pretty." he commented shyly.
He walked closer towards me. He delicately tucked a piece of my hair. His warm hands paralyzed me. Then he leaned in closer, his sweet minty breath fanning my lips.
"Mase...stop." I breathed. Mason closed his eyes for a moment. He looked troubled, like he was at his wits end.
He opened his eyes as his grey eyes pierced me. A fire, a desire, a wish in those stormy grey eyes.
"When are you going to see?" he whispered, "I love you....I always have. Why can't you love me back?"
My heart shattered. Who was I not to love this boy? He has revealed himself to me and bent over backwards to keep me safe. I haven't sacrificed anything.
All I've done is get mad at him, shut him out, and whine about my own problems. I never really asked about his father or tried to comfort him after he told me about his mother. I rejected his love not once but twice.
