Zane
I exhale as the weed smoke passes from my lips and into the surrounding air. I rest my head back on the headrest of my car seat as I look out into the dark night. I take another hit, hold it in my lungs, and then I release it. I see my target pull up just on time; right at 11:30 p.m. I set my blunt down and I go reach under my seat and I pull out a small handgun. I tuck my gun into my black jeans and then I pull a ski mask over my face and I pull the hood from my black sweatshirt over my head. I quickly get out of the car and I quietly make my way to my target as he gets out of the car. He is walking ahead of me and I walk slowly behind him. I pull my gun out from my pants with ease, aim it, stop in my tracks, and I pull the trigger once, causing a bullet to pierce my target's right shoulder. He yells out in pain and falls to the ground on his back as he holds his shoulder in pain. I put my gun in my pants and I walk over to him. I lean over his face and he looks at me in fear.
"What do you want? I'll give you anything, just please don't kill me. Ok?," the man said in fear.
"You even think about beating her again, I'll kill you," I said coldly as I make my voice an octave deeper than it normally is in an attempt to disguise it. The man's eyes widen in fear and he shakes his head quickly. I turn around and I walk away. I get back into my car, I start it up and then I speed off. I pick up my blunt and I take another long hit. I really need it. It took everything in me to not kill that bastard, but that's not my job and that's not what I get paid for. I set the blunt aside and I grab my phone. I pull into an empty parking lot and I dial a local number as I pull off my ski mask. I put the phone to my ear. Once the receiver picks up the call I say "it's done" and then I hang up. I slide my phone into my pocket and I drive to my next destination. I pull up to an abandoned house on the outskirts of town in the middle of the woods and I park my car in the driveway. I get out and I walk a few feet to the old, rusted mailbox. I open it and I pull out the envelope with the letter Z written on it. I get back in the car and I look around before opening the envelope. I pull out the stack of money and I can't help but to smile. I count through the $4,000 before placing it back into the envelope. Well that's another job complete. Wonder who my next target will be?
