Dear Friend,
I did it. I finally told Jake how I felt. It was terrifying, but I knew I had to be honest with myself. We were sitting on the bleachers after school, watching the sunset paint the sky in shades of pink and orange. The moment felt perfect, and I took a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest.
"Jake," I said, my voice shaking. "I need to tell you something."
He turned to me, his expression curious. I could feel the weight of my words hanging in the air. "I like you. Like, really like you."
There was a moment of silence, and I held my breath, waiting for his response. His eyes widened slightly, and I could see the gears turning in his mind. "Gracie, I—"
Before he could finish, I blurted out, "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have said anything. I just—"
But he interrupted me, a smile breaking across his face. "No, wait. I'm glad you did. I like you too, Gracie. I just didn't know if you felt the same way."
Relief washed over me like a wave, and I couldn't help but laugh. "Really? You do?"
"Yeah," he said, his cheeks turning a shade of pink. "I've been trying to figure out how to tell you without making things awkward."
We both laughed, the tension melting away. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. We spent the rest of the evening talking and joking, and I couldn't help but feel like I was floating.
That night, I wrote about it in my journal, capturing every detail of our conversation. It felt surreal, like a dream I never wanted to wake up from. I couldn't believe I had taken the leap, and it had turned out better than I could have imagined.
