A week had passed, but I could still remember the funeral like it was still going on. I wore a little black dress and black veil, and took my seat next to Eternity's mother, sharing her pain, maybe even more than she did.
I was told to get up and speak about him."Eternity... was my eternity. I loved him more than words could ever explain, even though sometimes I said I didn't. When I got the call, I didn't expect for it to be his mother... I responded so negatively to the call that I felt nearly dead when I got the news. I just want to say I'm sorry..."
I looked in the back to see him ... no, not Eternity... him. Why was he here? Was he here for revenge because I hadn't given him a chance? There were so many unanswered questions ringing in my mind.
I hadn't talked to him in days, weeks even. My phone rung. It was him.
"Can you meet me at the meadow?"
I didn't like doing much of anything anymore, not even hanging out with my friends, Journey and Pierce, but I agreed.
I met him at the meadow, the old playground we used to play at when we were children. He smiled at me, almost as if he was surprised that I showed up. He couldn't stop smiling at me.
"Why are you smiling at me so much?"
"Because I remember..."
"Remember what?"
"I remember... sitting on that bench over there as a child, while your class barged out of the door for recess at the playground. You would run to the swingset alone and sing a song of hope. I fell madly in love!"
"Why had you never told me?"
"You and Eternity had gotten so deeply involved that I couldn't do anything about it. I just wanted you to be happy."
I smiled at the ground, kind of in a depressed way."Hey, pick your head up beautiful! This is our opportunity..."
And then he kissed me...
