"You didn't do anything wrong honey" Rick stated as I walked past his and Lori's tent. I knew he was right but I couldn't help but believe that he didn't have to be killed. "I'm gonna go for a swim." I said as Rick gave me a worried look, "Just to clear my head and to get this blood off of me. I'll come back to pack after. I promise." I walked over and kissed his head than headed off to the Lake.

God. It's been ages since I've swam. Especially a solo swim. "MADI!" I heard Carl scream as he ran up to me and threw himself onto me. I laughed at his reaction, picking him up and pulling him into a massive hug, "Hey buddy, what have you been up to?" I started to ask as Blake walked up to us.

The excited boy grinned looking up at me,"Blake has been trying to catch frogs with me!" That's shocking. "Yeah,um he had come into the tent to get you and I didn't want to wake you so I went with him. Hope you don't mind Madi." Madi? I placed my hands around Carl's smiling face, and started to smile back, "Well someone is a gentleman, you better stick with this one Carl!" I said winking at Blake.

"Hey uh Carl, how about you go find your mom? I need to talk to Madi alone for a little bud." Blake said smiling down at Carl before he nodded and ran back up to camp. We stood awkwardly for a few moments before he spoke again, "Listen Madi I-" "Why are you calling me Madi?" I interrupted. His face went a blush red as he spoke, "Figured since we're friends that I should call you something you prefer." Just the thought of us being friends brought a smile to my face. Grinning up at Blake, I laughed, "Is Blake Dixon getting soft on me?" He just rolled his eyes before turning and walking towards the Lake.

I continued my laugh as I followed before him closely. "Hey listen, I was gonna go for a swim. Wanna join? or is the cold gonna affect your soft little heart?" I teased Blake as we approached the Lake. His grin grew wider, "Oh, so you think I've gone soft huh?" He quickly took off his clothes and jumped into the Lake before saying, "Well what are you waiting for woman, strip and get in!" I laughed at his tactics, quickly stripping down into only my underwear and jumping in. He was trying to cheer me up. It was working.

"Hey Madi, I want you to know that everything that happened wasn't your fault?" Blake said as I swam closer to him, tears swelled up immediately in my eyes at the thought of the man I had shot. His face softened as he pulled me closer to him and whispered, "It's not your fault Madison." I slowly wrapped my arms around his neck as I pulled him into my embrace. "I was supposed to protect you and I failed. I'm sorry Madi." His voice trembled as he spoke.

I pulled away from him to get a look at his face. Tears were rolling down his face as he looked down at the water. I grabbed his face, wiping his tears, "I'm the one who wanted to help him. It's my fault. I didn't have good judgment. It is not your fault Blake. I'm here. I'm alive." As I spoke his eyes locked with mine. He seemed as if he was in a trance. "Listen, how about we swim around for a little?" I suggested fully pushing away from him into the deeper part of the Lake.

"You fucking cheater! I clearly held my breath longer than you!" Blake said as we got closer to shore. I laughed at how out of breath he was, "Yeah, yeah, sure Dixon." A smile rushed upon his face as we approached shore, "Hey, guess what I found in Merles bag earlier" he said proudly. I grinned as he pulled out a bottle of whiskey, "How about we get drunk and just forget that this is our last full night at this hell hole" he stated as he took off the top and took a long sip of the liquor, "Or are you chicken?"

A smirk went onto his face as I took the bottle and chugged the bottle. God. This shit tastes horrible. "Chicken who?" I said as I handed him the bottle. He laughed as he took another sip.

We sat on a rock talking about high school as we watched the sunset. "Oh so you're telling me you weren't mr popular at school?!" I snorted as I scooted closer to him, taking another sip of whiskey. He laughed as he said, "Okay Ms 5 state records. You were probably the most popular girl in school." "Actually, I was before Rick got shot. After he went into his coma, Shane had to work more hours so I never really got to see him and I isolated myself. I focused on school and swim. That was it. I didn't even hang out with anyone anymore." I stated as I turned to face him. His eyes locked on mine the whole time I spoke. I miss home. He put him hand up and cupped my face, "Hey, your eyes have a little green in them" he said as we kept eye contact.

I broke eye contact and stared at his lips. God, he's actually really handsome.

Next thing I know, his lips are locked on mine.
