Chapter 30: School for Mafias

Exhaustion finally kicked in my system as I removed my heels. I then removed the strap clinging to my thigh while my eyes were fighting my sleepiness.

Tsk! What if one of our men saw her with this mouthwatering outfit?" rinig ko ng isang boses, nakikilala ko kung sino ang nagmamay-ari no'n.

It's Agon, but why did his voice seem like a whisper?

Dilim ang siyang bumungad sa paningin ko, I can see a blurry silhouette of a man before drifting into sleep again.

I slowly opened my eyes as the sun peeked through my window.

I recollect my thoughts as if they drifted away when I sent myself to a deep sleep. I lay still, savoring the warmth and comfort of my bed.

Wait. . . my bed?!  But as far as I remember, I slept on the sofa!

So it was true?! Agon did?!

Napasapo ako sa bibig at biglang may sumipa sa dibdib ko. Kinarga niya ako papunta sa kwarto ko. I wonder of nabibigatan siya sa 'kin.

I scanned my room again, it was quiet, and a familiar scent of lemon lingered on my nose. The silence brought back memories of yesterday's battle, as I closed my eyes again, feeling the soreness all over my body.

The explosions, gunfires, and hurried footsteps are still present at the back of my mind. The chaos of yesterday's feels like eternity. It finally ended, but I know it's just the beginning.

My gaze fixed on the curtain swaying in the gentle breeze. I stayed like that for a couple of minutes when I finally decided to get off my bed.

I picked a sleeveless green long dress and a white slip-on slipper for my comfort.

"Good morning!" Nick greeted, sitting on the sofa with while sipping his coffee.

"Hey, babe! Have a good morning sleep?" Ardeen winked while holding a cup of steaming coffee.

Napangiwi ako. Feeling gwapo talaga ang isang 'to.

"Good morning," Raji greeted at sinenyas ang kape niya. "Coffee?" he offered.

Raji shrugged his shoulders and let Agon turn over what he was doing. Napansin kong nagsisikuhan sina Nick and Ardeen while looking at Agon, tila nagpipigil ng tawa.

"This is going to be exciting," Nick whispered.

"Hella exciting," Ardeen replied.

These two idiots are fighting for their lives to keep from laughing out loud. My brow arched slightly.

What exactly is wrong with these two?

"Here." Agon offered the coffee that he makes.

I gladly accepted it, smiling. "Thank you."

I looked over at Nick and Ardeen, who were waiting for me to take my first sip of coffee. Silence filled the living room as all eyes were fixed on me, waiting for my grand reaction.

After taking a sip, a bitter taste kicked in my mouth that I'm not able to conceal. An absolute horrific cup of coffee that I've tasted in my whole life!

I coughed multiple times. Raji, Nick, and Ardeen begin chuckling and burst into laughter, filling the entire mansion.

Nick laughed, holding his stomach, and said, "Who would have thought that Agon Levitico Del Vecho could make a worse cup of coffee than anyone else?!" He laughed heartily.

"You should stick with being a mafia boss, not a coffee maker, bro!" Ardeen added.

Raji did not say anything, but he was laughing quietly.

"Your coffee skills doesn't reflect your expertise in the mafia world. Maybe being a Mafia boss doesn't require you to be good in every aspect," I chuckled.

Agon shot them a warning look. He turned back and cleared his throat. "Raji will make a new one," aniya na mas lalong ikinatawa ng nina Nick at Ardeen.

"Kuya! Ate!"

Nakapantulog pa 'to at gulo-gulo ang buhok, halatang kagigising lang.

"Good morning, everyone!" masiglang bati niya, puno ng ngiti ang labi.

Those innocent smiles moved my heart.

Nick played with Levin and played tag. This mansion filled Levin's laugther and shouts. I didn't notice that I was smiling while looking at them.

Sumipa biglang ang kuryusidad ko. "Why did you not send Levin to school? A normal school?" I emphasized.

Agon looked at Levin. "I did." Sadness was evident in his eyes, but it's just a few seconds and he became cold.

"Bakit ngayon hindi na? He needs to experience it again. Kawawa naman."

Ardeen cleared his throat, mouthing something, but I can't understand what he was talking about. I shot my eyes at Raji, napapailing ito.

Did I say something wrong?

Napatayo si Agon. "I need to do something," after he said that he left us coldly.

"Anong nangyari ro'n?" takang tanong ko.

"Hindi mo dapat sinabi 'yon," ani Raji ng seryoso. "Curiosity really kills the cat."

"But I need to know. Matagal na ako rito at pamilya na rin ang turing ko sa inyo!" giit ko, puno ng pagtatampo.

Alam kong wala akong karapatan pero anong magagawa ko? My concern for them grows bigger each day.

I heard Raji's deep sighed and nodded to Ardeen, signaling him to tell me something.

"He actually did. Agon sent Levin to a normal school, but our enemies kept putting him in danger," wika ni Ardeen.

"Agon can't risk Levin's safety. Naka-home school siya ngayon, but he will send Levin to a school when he reaches a certain age."

My forehead knotted. "What school is it?"

"Gehenna: School for Mafias. When a child reaches the age of twelve, they can study in a normal school. A school with teachers, schoolmates, and classmates is a typical school for students," Ardeen added.

"But is it safe there?" duda ko. Pangalan pa lang ay nakatatakot na.

"Of course! We are the product of that school," Ardeen proudly announced while he's arms are opening widely, presenting himself.

I looked to Raji, confirming if it was true. Sometimes Ardeen's statements are contradictory to his face.

Raji nodded. "It's true. We are from there. Gehenna is a school that forged a new leader of the mafia society, or normal people say it's an underground world."

This world really piqued my interest and want to dived deep within this world. It's dangerous yet exciting.
