Miaka's mind was restless, her heart weighed down by thoughts of Isuna, still locked away in that haunting ice chamber. Every detail was etched into her memory-the icy walls that encased her friend, the pale skin pressed against the cold, her expression both calm and sorrowful, as if she were lost in a dream or awaiting a release that would never come.
As dawn broke, she found herself standing on a balcony overlooking the mist-shrouded mountains surrounding Taiitsukun's palace. The cold wind bit at her skin, reminding her of the frost that had encased Isuna. She closed her eyes, feeling an overwhelming resolve.
I'll save you, Isuna. Somehow, I'll find a way to free you.
Tamahome approached quietly, sensing her troubled thoughts. "You're still thinking about Isuna, aren't you?" he asked softly, his voice filled with understanding.
Miaka nodded. "It's like I can't shake it, Tamahome. She was... she was trapped in that ice, and we don't even know why or who would do such a thing to her. She didn't deserve this. None of us do."
"Then let's find the answers," Tamahome replied, his determination mirroring hers. "We'll search for clues, find the magic that imprisoned her, and break it. Together."
Chichiri joined them soon after, Taiitsukun following closely behind. She seemed more somber than usual, as if she, too, had spent the night considering Isuna's fate. "There might be one way to uncover what happened to Isuna, but it won't be easy," Taiitsukun said, her voice grave.
Miaka looked up, hope sparking in her eyes. "What is it? I'll do anything."
Taiitsukun gestured toward the towering temple at the heart of her palace. "Deep within the temple lies a mirror of the soul, an ancient relic capable of revealing memories and hidden truths. But it comes with a price. Those who look into it must be prepared to confront painful truths, to see not only what happened to Isuna, but also their own fears and secrets."
Tamahome put a reassuring hand on Miaka's shoulder. "Are you sure about this, Miaka?"
She nodded firmly, her gaze steady. "If it's the only way to help Isuna, then I have to do it. I'll face whatever I have to if it means understanding what happened to her."
Together, they made their way to the temple's inner sanctum. The mirror stood before them, ancient and veined with cracks that seemed to glow faintly. Its surface was still, yet held a strange allure, as if it were silently calling to Miaka.
Taiitsukun raised her hand. "Remember, Miaka. The mirror will reveal the past but only as much as you are ready to bear. Steady your heart, for the truth may be more complex than you realize."
Taking a deep breath, Miaka approached the mirror. As she placed her hand upon its cold surface, an image began to form, swirling slowly before resolving into the scene from days past.
She watched as Isuna wandered through the dense forests of Kutou. There was a soft, haunting glow around her, as if she were drawn by some unseen force. She seemed lost, calling out in a voice too soft to be heard. And then, a shadowy figure approached her from behind, shrouded in darkness.
The figure raised their hand, casting a freezing spell that encased Isuna in a chamber of solid ice. Miaka gasped as she recognized the subtle but familiar markings on the figure's robes-symbols associated with ancient magic, older than even Taiitsukun's own power.
As the scene faded, a final image burned into Miaka's mind: Isuna's eyes, wide with fear just before the ice closed around her. The image flickered, and a voice echoed within the mirror, soft and mournful.
"Miaka... Yui... where are you?"
The weight of her friend's lonely voice tore at Miaka's heart. She staggered back, her hand covering her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes. She could feel Tamahome's steadying grip as he caught her.
"Isuna was taken by someone powerful," Miaka choked out. "I don't know who... but I saw their magic. It was like nothing I've ever seen before."
Taiitsukun's expression darkened, her lips pressing into a thin line. "Whoever this is, they are drawing on powers that should have been forgotten. They must have a reason for imprisoning Isuna... perhaps to keep her away from you."
"Then we have to break that spell," Miaka whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "We have to get her back."
Chichiri nodded, determination in his eyes. "I'll search for any leads, no da. Whoever this person is, they may have left traces of their presence."
Miaka took a shaky breath, looking back at the mirror one last time. "Hold on, Isuna," she whispered. "I'll find you. And I'll bring you home."
As they left the temple, a renewed resolve filled Miaka's heart. Isuna's fate had become her own burden, a mission she would not abandon. She knew the road ahead would be dangerous and filled with mysteries, but with Tamahome, Chichiri, and her friends beside her, she felt a surge of strength.
And as they walked out into the morning light, Miaka vowed that no matter what lay ahead, she would never let Isuna remain alone in the cold, forgotten chamber of ice. She would keep fighting until her friend was free.
