"So how come you never told us about you and Helios getting cosy?"

Sally threw her head back as she laughed at Athena, her eyes shining in the sunlight as the girls lay on the field. Anya was sat a few feet away from them, Apollo lying next to her as they spoke quietly, Athena uninterested in her brother's conversation.

"It's complicated," Sally started, a small smile on her face. Athena flicked a piece of her short hair from her face as she blew some air from her lips. "We're mates, but Sol doesn't want to complete the mating bond until marriage," The red haired girl huffed, her fingers reaching to pick at the grass. "Or at least that's what his parents have always believed in."

Athena frowned, "That's weird. I've never heard of mates putting off sex just because of marriage..." She trailed off, Anya's giggled catching her attention before she looked back at Sally. Flashing her friend a smile, Sally shook her head.

"It's okay, I don't mind waiting; we're already engaged," She grinned, leaning forward to show Athena the engagement ring. "But sometimes I think Sol wants to mate too; it's just his parents." She pulled a face, Athena laughing in response. "It gets hard sometimes, you know? I have urges..." She whispered, although Apollo and Anya turned to face her, bewildered expressions on their faces. Athena shook her head, dismissing them, to which they responded with a shrug and carried on their conversation.

Athena stared up at the sky, her eyes squinting as the sun shone in her face. Sally mimicked her action, the girls lying side by side. "You could always just mate anyway?" Athena suggested. "I mean, what can his parents really do?"

Sally frowned, "They've threatened to disown him. God means a lot to them; so does their shitty bible."

Athena bit at the inside of her cheek at Sally's remark.

"I mean, fair enough, they believe in God and all that. But why does that mean they have to enforce it on us? We're not them," She sighed, her tone forcing Athena to bite back a joke. "I'm sorry.. I know that religion is kind of big in this pack. It's just that I hate the fact that they're forcing us to abide by their rules. Like, Sol is twenty-three, for fuck's sake!"

Athena did not speak, the only sounds coming from Anya and Apollo who were unaware of what was being said. "I say just do it. They can't control you forever."

Sally let out a short laugh, "I think they'll try to until the day they die."

Athena grinned, "Just try not to kill them," She joked. Sally sighed, running a hand through her red locks before closing her eyes, the heat of the sun fanning across her cheeks.

"Don't tempt me," She grumbled, Athena giggling in response as she too closed her eyes.

A few feet away, Apollo was trying to concentrate on his book, but Anya's hand came down and shut the book in his face. He glared up at her as she smiled innocently. "What is your problem?" He asked, huffing as he sat up to face her. "If this is about you-know-what, I'd rather not talk about it here," He muttered. Anya rolled her eyes.

"I just want to know what you-know-who is like," She let out a short laugh at her own joke, Apollo flashing her a dark look.

"That was a shit Harry Potter joke, J.K Rowling would be disgusted, I hope you know that," The taller boy spat, Anya only grinning in response. His eyes darting towards his sister, he realised she had fallen asleep, before turning to face Anya, "He's nice, that's all you have to know."

Anya rose an eyebrow, "So nothing like you at all, then?"

Apollo narrowed his eyes.

Ignoring the look that could have sent her six feet under, Anya shifted her body so that she was lying down, her eyes closing, "Can I meet him?"
