Zeus
| nineteen |
When Zeus woke, he was alone. Tired eyes blinking rapidly, he forced his body to sit up, a frown on his face as he looked over at the empty space where his mate would be lying. He sighed, his hand reaching up to rub at his eyes before he groaned, falling back onto the pillows.
He was silent, his wolf urging him to talk. Where is she?
Zeus squeezed his eyes shut, before opening them once more. "I don't know," He breathed out, his fingers grasping at his hair again.
"You don't know what?"
Zeus jumped at the voice of his mate, a sharp breath escaping his lips. He sat up once again, only to see his mate stepping out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around her small frame. Zeus frowned, "How did I not hear you?" He asked.
Anya smiled softly, moving forward to sit on the beside him. "You were snoring loudly. You looked so tired, I felt bad about waking you." She leaned towards him and planted a small kiss on his cheek, "Good morning," She smiled.
As she moved to stand up, Zeus' hand grabbed her towel, forcing it off of her body. "Stay," He pleaded, his eyes raking over her now naked back, his fingers running along the bumps of her spine as she bent over, picking up her clothes from the night before. His green orbs watched her as she pulled her hair up, securing it into a messy bun, her pale skin on show. He looked along her back, and her waist, the indents of her ribcage on show. A frown made its way onto his face. "Are you getting worse?" He asked quietly.
Anya did not speak for a few moments, before she shook her head. "I'm okay," She murmured. Zeus bit his lip; she was lying. His hand grabbed a hold of her arm, tugging her towards him, and manoeuvring her body so that she was straddling him.
"You can tell me, you know? If it hurts," He said, bringing her hands to his mouth and kissing her knuckles lightly. Anya kept her head down, avoiding his gaze as he peered at her. "Anya, baby, please. Let me help you."
She looked up at him, Zeus taken aback by the tears that welled in her eyes. "You can't help me. I'm dying."
Zeus shook his head, his expression growing thunderous. "We have a cure. Eos is going to help us."
She remained silent as he pulled her closer to him, wrapping his arms around her as she rested her head on his shoulder.
"There is a ritual, that can help you," Zeus said. "But we have to use your father's blood." Anya lifted her head to stare at him. Feeling her confusion through the bond, Zeus swiftly explained, "The ritual is called blood-sharing. You have to share your blood with your father's... Then drink it." He stopped speaking as he heard voices outside the bedroom door, before they walked off again. His eyes flashed back to Anya.
Noticing the uncomfortable look on his face, she frowned down at him. "What?" She asked. "What aren't you telling me?"
Zeus closed his eyes for a second, before whispering, "He has to die."
In a flash, Anya removed herself from his body and glaring down at him incredulously. "No. Absolutely not." Zeus stood from the bed, in all his naked glory, and took a step towards his mate. "No, Zeus!" She shouted. "No-one is dying. Especially not my father!" She growled at him, her cheeks flushed with anger. Zeus groaned, taking another step towards her.
"This is to save your life, why can't you understand that?"
Anya laughed bitterly, "So to save me, you want to murder my father!? How chivalrous of you." She spat, turning away from him and storming into the walk-in wardrobe, Zeus trailing after her.
