Zeus
| thirty-seven |
A few days after Hades' confession, Anya was sitting in the windowsill of her bedroom. Zeus had personally made sure that she was resting; his worry for her health had her wondering whether he was able to concentrate on his brothers.
However, Zeus had proven her wrong once more, when Apollo came into her bedroom, to tell her the news.
"Zeus is going to kill Hades."
Anya looked up from the window, her eyes wide as she stared at Apollo in shock. "What?" She murmured, not quite believing what she had heard. "He can't! He's family!"
Apollo gave her a dead-panned look. "It's Zeus we're talking about here. He can, and he will."
Anya nodded her head, chewing at the inside of her cheek as she sighed. "I guess so... But he hasn't exactly done anything yet...?" Apollo shrugged his shoulder, looking down at her legs.
"I grew up with Hades; what he wants, he gets. You should get dressed; as Luna, you have to be there." Anya's eyes grew wide as she stared at him. Apollo nodded, "Yeah, yeah, it's grim. But you're the Luna; it's your duty."
Anya stared at him, shocked by his casual tone, "I will not watch someone die like it's a sport. It's disgusting."
Apollo stared at her, his eyes hard as his clenched his fists in frustration. "You really think your fear of a little bit of blood is important?" He asked, his thick eyebrows furrowed into a dark glare. "Your loyalty lies with your mate, or have you forgotten that!?"
Anya flinched at his harsh tone before anger took over her as she shouted back at him, "I am your Luna! Speak to me with respect," She screeched, standing from the windowsill to face Apollo, her body rigid as she glared up at the young male before her. "I do not like violence, nor will I ever. It is disgusting that you wolves think it is normal to kill one another."
Apollo opened his mouth to speak, but the harsh glare that Anya sent his way had him slamming it shut. The wolves were silent, Apollo staring right through Anya as she sighed heavily.
"I'm sorry," She finally whispered. "I'm just sick of everyone telling me what to do, how I can or cannot do things. What is right or what is wrong," Her voice trembled as she spoke, lifting her gaze to the ceiling in an attempt to prevent herself from crying. Apollo watched silently, shifting uncomfortably from one foot to another; sympathy contact was not a forte of his. "I am dying, Apollo... I just wish there was no fighting, no arguing or any wars. I want to die peacefully."
Apollo licked his dry lips before he spoke, his voice hoarse, "You're not going to die, Zeus has found a cure," He promised, his voice sincere.
The Luna blinked away her tears, stray ones escaping down her cheeks. She laughed, running a hand through her hair as she smiled sadly. "Come on, Apollo. Just because Zeus has a cure, what is the chance of it working? Have you ever heard of anyone surviving terminal cancer?" She breathed, her smile widening, her pupils dilated.
Apollo did not answer.
Anya nodded her head, "You see? Nothing can change the fact that I am going to die." She smiled at Apollo who awkwardly smiled back at her, scratching at the back of his head. "But you know what?" She asked, looking down at her nails as she picked at them before her gaze returned to Apollo, "I'm okay with death now."
Apollo cleared his throat, "I-I don't really know what to say to that..." He trailed off, pursing his lips as he looked at her, his gaze focused on her large doe-like eyes. Anya smiled at him, her cheeks faintly flushed as her eyes blinked slowly up at him.
