It was a cold, breezy night. The air full of mixed smells.

The moon reflected on the soil that sat on the ground, completely emotionless.

Sticks were being snapped by light footsteps that roamed the night.

It was multiplied, the other rushing more.

Shinobu hummed to herself, walking in a careless manner. However, that wasn't how it actually was.

However, giyuu, rushing behind her was trying to catch his breath. Even after the girl relentlessly teased him, he still found himself chasing after her.

The roles would usually be reversed, but today would be different. A lot different.

"Ara-ara tomioka-san! You seem to be struggling a bit." Shinobu teased, giggling to herself. It was hard to hear that giggle as it was faint, but giyuu heard it.

Giyuu could listen to her soft voice all day, if he could. No. He wanted to. But he could never find the opportunity.

As forced as it sounded, it had him in a trance everytime it was released from the chamber pronounced as, "The mouth."

That mouth. Shinobu's mouth. Her soft lips that possessed such a faint hypnotic voice.

Those cerise shaded lips that giyuu so desperately wanted to k-

"Well, tomioka-san? Aren't you going to reply?" Shinobu questioned. Giyuu's thoughts were put to a halt as she stood there, slowly turning her body to face him.

Giyuu felt blessed. Blessed that she talked again, that sweet voice that filled his ears with pleasure. He felt honoured that shinobu even had the choice sparking in her mind to face him.

Him. An average man with an ugly haori. Thats what it was seen as at least. It wasn't the best thing, but it reminded him of his loved ones. After shinobu of course.

Shinobu tapped her sword as she waited for an answer. She clicked her tongue as she then said, "Wow, tomioka-san. Don't you think ignoring people is quite rude? Out of all the hashiras, I'd expect you to know manners! How rude of you." She teased, trying. Trying so hard not to let her veins burst, trying so hard to not let anger overcome her.

Shinobu was a short woman with an anger problem. But nobody else knew that secret, except for her of course. She was just a weak bitter woman who was even lucky to stand near the hashira. If kanae- i mean. If it wasn't for her goal, she wouldn't be here. Ever.

Her poison was the only thing that kept her alive. If it wasn't for that, she would've died already. She was just a weak, bitter, immature woman who is full of rage for stupid reasons.

"Sorry." Giyuu muttered. It was so quiet, not even an insect could hear it. Well, some couldn't. Except for shinobu. She's the only exception. The smartest insect out of all of them, with excellent hearing.

Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Pillar. Or Hashira if you'd like. The sister of Kanae Kocho, previous Flower Hashira.

Shinobu was stunned by the sudden reply that left the mysterious man's mouth. Those soft lips, they moved to let out a noise. That noise was a word.

Sorry. feeling regret or penitence.

Giyuu, had felt regret for ignoring shinobu. Shinobu. A bitter woman. A bitter woman who can't control her emotion. Giyuu felt sorrow for. Giyuu felt regret for ignoring.

Wow.

Thats all she could think. Wow.

"Wow, tomioka-san!~ I didn't know you were capable of feeling such things!" She teased softly as she quietly giggled. Her face had felt hot as she said that. But giyuu couldn't notice. He was too busy staring at the ground in embarrassment.

"KAW! KAWW!" The sound of a bird hit. It was a crow. "ALL OF THE DEMON SLAYERS HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF!" It continued, "PLEASE REPORT BACK TO THE MANSIONS!" It announced.

SHINOBU POV

I stared up at the crow as it ordered us on what the next task was.

I listened attentively as i stared at its beak, opening and closing as it talked.

You know, this isn't a normal sight. This isn't normal. A crow talking isn't actually normal. It's strange infact. Impossible. None of this is real. This is all an illusion. It's just fake. Im not real. What is this? I thought as i held my hands out, soon forming a fist. Why am i alive? What is the purpose?

I felt a tap at my shoulder. "Kocho." Tomioka spoke. I stared at him as i gasped. I looked at his lips. Those lips that were once open. I missed it. Wait. Why's he so close to me?! Oh my gosh?! Hes so close?! My cheeks were on fire at that point. I couldn't look away though. I was hypnotised by him. That look. Those ocean blue eyes that gazed at me. Im honoured. Im honoured such a beauty even thought of looking at me. Me, a bitter short woman with a temper. If it wasnt tomioka-san, i would have already slapped this man. But it's him. Tomioka.

Tomioka Giyuu. The water Hashira. The 3rd strongest Pillar to be precise.

"We should go back.." Giyuu said before trailing off. It was almost a whisper, if you didn't hear it that is. But i heard it, of course.

"Of course, tomioka-san! Thank you for alerting me." I stated before walking off, expecting tomioka to follow behind.

We soon arrived at master's mansion. I sat down, tomioka repeated.

"Hello, my dear children." Master greeted, as he sat there. He was smiling, as usual.

I found it quite strange. He had a life-threatening disease yet still kept a smile plastered on his face. It's quite ironic how im saying this. But, he lost his sight from this disease, and not once has that smile faded. I admired him, truly.

"Hello master." Tomioka mumbled as he gently put his head on the ground.

I also did the same.

Master began to giggle. "It's quite alright children, sit up, please." He asked, still smiling, but it got wider.

"Im glad you have returned safely from the mission, and everyone is safe, yes?" He questioned.

"Of course, master." I replied as i adjusted my haori.

Master nodded in agreement. "Very well then, you are free to go. Thank you, my children, once again." He explained, smiling more wider.

We had both bowed once more before getting up.

Master was a very admirable man, i mean, how could he not be? He still leads the Demon Slayer Corps to this day with such an illness, and he provides such goods for us.

He always has a smile on his face, constantly. That smile that could light up millions, no matter the situation.

I soon stopped as i arrived at the Butterfly Mansion.

"Hello, Lady Kocho." Kanao stated, waiting for me at the door before bowing.

I giggled. "You don't need to do that, kanao." I said before tapping her on the shoulder.

She smiled as i did so, and bowed again, showing me i'm free to leave. I walked off, over to my office, passing all of the hard workers that stayed here.

It was a long day. I needed it.
