Kanae POV
I sat down, waiting as shinobu bathed the small girl we took.
Though, i thought shinobu was too harsh and reckless for shoving money out of her haori like that, especially to that man!
It was very rude for her to disrespect her elders. I will have to talk to her about that soon.
But for now, we have to focus on the present. That little girl, she looked like she was being taken care of roughly.
Perhaps her household is just like that? But that man mentioned that she doesn't have a name. Who would be so irresponsible to not name their child?
But, he did mention he bought her. How can people be so negative! Especially towards such small children!
Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by a noise, i looked up.
"Nee-san! I still dont understand why we have to keep her! She's hopeless, look at her!" Shinobu shouted as she held her by the hand, all dressed up.
"Awwww!!" I squealed, completely ignoring what shinobu said, before rushing over to the small girl.
"You're so adorable!" I said before hugging her softly. She felt so warm, im glad i entrusted her to shinobu. I knew she had a soft spot!
"Are you even listening, nee-san?! We shouldn't keep her! We cant take care of her, we're busy!" Shinobu protested, frustrated.
"Ara ara shinobu. We shouldn't judge her skills now!" I answered, lifting up a finger whilst smiling.
She stared before going aggressive again. "But nee-san! Shes completely hopeless! She can't even talk, shes ignoring us!" She yelled.
An idea sparked.
"She's ignoring us?" I questioned.
"Yes! Completely ignoring us! Isn't she so disobedient? Did that man teach her nothing!" She protested, under the thought her plan to convince me was working.
"Well then." I stated before shoving my hand into the inside-pocket of my haori, it rustling.
"What are you doing?" Shinobu questioned, looking at me.
I gripped onto a metal object before whipping it out, exposing it to the oxygen that laid in the air.
The little girl looked up at it, completely mesmerised as she stared at my hand.
Shinobu stared aswell, obviously confused as an expression matching that sat on her face.
I held the little girl's hand open before continuing, "You have to keep this coin, okay? If life is too hard and you don't know what to do, flip this coin to decide! It's so much easier, i've done it before!" I said before gently placing it on her palm, grabbing a hold of her other hand and putting it on top of the palm with the coin.
"What?! How is that going to help! You're being reckless, nee-san!" Shinobu protested, angry at my decision.
"Ne ne shinobu! I hate when that beautiful smile on your face disappears! I'd like to see it more, okay?" I stated, smiling at the thought of her smiling, while facing her, for extra reassurance.
She stayed silent before frowning, accepting defeat.
Hours later, at the butterfly mansion, it was quite silent. The mansion was filled with just a few kakushi working in the kitchen, preparing dinner as usual.
I didn't like the idea of having others work for me, ever. But it was more efficient and i wanted someone to look after shinobu when i was gone, so it had to do.
I sat in the room as i brushed out the little girls hair, while contemplating a name for her. A name that would fit her.
"Aha!" I shouted out as her body flinched, startled by the sudden conversation.
She didn't say anything, but i knew she was wondering why i randomly said that.
"Kanao!" I stated, "Kanao is a perfect name for you!" I said before i stopped brushing her hair.
"Now, which butterfly clip would you like?" I questioned before telling her about the options.
"You can either have one like my sister shinobu, the girl whom was bathing you earlier, a white clip with a purple outline, or one like mine, a green base with a pink outline! Ah, there's also another one-" i was interrupted as she pointed at my head.
"You want one like mine?" I chuckled, this was so adorable! She was so adorable!
She nodded as she stared at it, mesmerised.
I grabbed a piece as i sat it on top of my lap before going back to brushing her hair. I soon tied it up in a ponytail and clipped the butterfly clip into her hair.
"All done, kanao!" I said, assuring her she can finally rest now. I soon took out a mini mirror before showing her it.
She stared into the mirror for a while, even though it hurt my arm to hold, i have to admit, it was adorable!
"You should probably go to the dining hall now, kanao!~" I stated, assuring her dinner is ready and she can finally fill her stomach with goods.
I folded the mini mirror and placed it on top of the wooden desk that sat on an end of the room.
She got up from the cushion that made her comfortable and politely bowed before leaving.
What a polite young girl! I sure hope she grows up to be something amazing one day. And im sure shinobu will be her inspiration.
I wasn't far from wrong, was i, Shinobu?
