[ 3rd person ]
The final battle was soon, all of the hashiras knew this. Therefore, they thought it was logical to spend their time preparing for the final battle that was upcoming. Since one of their most valuable hashira's have resigned, they're going to need all the training they can get to fight against the demon king minus a strong hashira.
Fortunately for shinobu, this would mean her plan wouldn't go to waste and that she would have saved many others from being slaughtered by this one demon. It was for everyone's sake really, but also one specific person. Kanae. This was all for her sister. She came a long way for this, so why would she back out now?
Which is why she has been planning for the last few days, she has almost completely stopped socialising with the other hashira's and their "hangout"'s and has been focusing on treating patients at the butterfly mansion or coating her blood with poison.
It wasn't enough yet, she needed more of it. The more, the better. It will be more quicker and efficient, it won't wear out kanao as she fights alongside her.
She sucked the wisteria poison out of a small bowl into a needle, carefully injecting it into her wrist, wincing at the pain and how it overcame her blood.
She was too busy doing this she didn't even notice Aoi at the door.
"Shinobu-sama?"
She froze. Her blood ran cold. (Not like she had any left anyway)
She couldn't take the needle out, the poison was still going in, all she could do was slightly tilt her head at an angle, so from the corner of her eye she could see the frail girl at the door, slightly shuddering at the sight.
"Yes?" She said. It wasn't meant to sound rude, it just came out like that. She sighed.
"What.. what are you doing with that..?" She said, lifting up her arm to point at the needle shinobu held onto, watching the liquid inject inside of shinobu's wrist.
She sighed. "Now now, it's nothing you should worry about, Aoi-san! Just something to help with the battle..." She trailed off, wincing more as the pain increased, she was now focused on the needle as she plucked it out, quietly groaning.
"Are you.. are you sure? It doesn't look healthy, I can tell you're wincing.." She muttered the last part, obviously concerned as she took a step inside of the room, trying to give shinobu support.
She turned her head sharper than intended. "Ah, I'm fine Aoi-san! No need to come in here!" She forced, trying her hardest to smile. But it wouldn't work. It was almost like the frown was stuck on her face.
Aoi felt her vision begin to blur, she didn't even notice but tears began to form in her eyes, clouding her vision slightly. "Shinobu-sama.. I.. I don't want you hurting yourself.. I don't want to lose you too.." Aoi struggled, her voice breaking as silent sobs poured out of her mouth, tasting the salty tears created by her eyes.
Shinobu huffed. She didn't imagine that her sisters would be this affected by it. She wanted a clean death. She didn't know how it would work, but she just wanted one. All she wanted was revenge on behalf of her sister, she didn't plan this part out. She didn't know her death would cause this much pain. This was a problem.
"Aoi-san. It will all be fine. It will all work out well. Don't cry." She said, almost like a command because of how firm it was said.
Aoi was sniffling and sobbing as she desperately rubbed her tears, trying to stop the pain. Trying to stop thinking of this.
Shinobu slowly put down the needle back on the desk, grabbed a towel and dabbed the wound before pulling her sleeve down and standing up slowly to walk over to aoi.
"I assure you everything will be okay." Shinobu said, using her right arm to put her hand on aoi's shoulder to reassure her.
Aoi nodded, wiping her tears desperately, shinobu also helped her.
"Now, go on and do your duties. I promise I'll be fine. We will defeat muzan." She assured, slightly popping a vein at the mention of the supposed demon King's name.
Aoi nodded as she turned, walking over to the door, stopping by a corner.
Shinobu closed the door as she turned, walking back to her desk to continue.
"Nee-san. I promise I'll be with you soon. I'll get revenge just for you, nee-san. I'll make you proud." Shinobu slightly muttered but also said aloud as she had her eyes closed, looking up.
But that just triggered aoi's tears even more. To stop herself from getting caught, she decided to go to her own room to clean up. But what she saw will forever scar her.
.
Shinobu laid in her bed. Still replaying those moments from earlier in her head. What if aoi told anyone? Did aoi even believe her? Of course she did! She's loyal, she respects her sisters boundaries. I hope she isn't worried. I hope she knows its all okay. It's all for protection of the people. And for kanae.
But a part of her felt regret. What if this all goes wrong? What if her sisters end up miserable; just like how she was with kanae? She'd never be able to forgive herself if that occurred. She'd feel guilty even in the supposed afterlife.
So she needed to find a way to convince aoi it was nothing, to assure that she isn't haunted till she passes. She wants her death to be clean after all, she doesn't want anyone else except her to feel pain.
And that filthy demon. He also deserves pain. He doesn't deserve anything but that. Even in the afterlife. He deserves to burn in hell.
But the final battle was sooner than they expected. So all this was never possible.
