"Come on, Ari. You can do it."
The girl encouraged herself to step inside the mortuary with a paper pad and a pen in her hand as the elevator was swiftly being stretched by the strong wires and ropes.
This is the day she's been trying to avoid ever since her internship commenced. Not a day elapsed where she could rest for a day as her austere seniors and professors keep a close eye on the interns at all times.
And today was the day she was eventually recruited with the group of interns who had to observe the cadavers.
"Yes yes my girl, you can do it, you are now Doctor Arranya Awasthi, don't forget identity now and then," Anna added further. "Just don't faint,"
A chuckle flew from her right, coercing her to jerk her neck to pass a death stare to her best friend, Ananya.
"I agree, humari safety pin," and a nudge on Arranya's shoulder by a sharp elbow which was of a bulky hand, refrained her straight posture to stand in place, making her bump into a guy standing in front of her in the elevator.
"I'm so sorry—" she apologized hastily to the boy who politely smiled back at her, dismissing his hand to narrate his fellow intern that it's alright.
"Shut up Samar, and stop calling me safety pin in broad daylight please," Ari sibilated at her friend, fixing her hair when she felt Samar bend down to her ear's level.
"Safety. Pin. Please move," and another repetitive wordings wheeled out of his mouth with an suppressed laugh, causing Arranya to slouch down her shoulders in annoyance as she moved past the crowd.
"Stop annoying her," Anna elbowed the man with a playful smile as they both followed her to the morgue.
"Go in, Ari. They're already dead, they won't wake up just to scare you, come in quickly," Anna pushed aside her best friend who was being trailed by Samar as the two entered the mortuary, leaving the girl outside to herself who was praying not to see any ghosts inside.
"He bhagwaan ji, please save me," and closing her eyes, the intern set foot inside the morgue with a elevated heartbeats.
And no ways her entire day could have been an ordinary one because her phasmophobia was kicking the best out of her trepidation throughout the day.
[Phasmophobia: fear of ghosts]
"Oh my gosh," Arranya exhaled in solace as she let herself dive in consolation, falling on the ground as her soul felt relieved after the long day in the mortuary.
"That was such a dreading day bro, I almost fainted twice seeing those postmortem bodies," Ari laid down on Ananya's lap as the three friends relaxed in their usual place on the ground that is behind the hospital.
The area is full of greenery and a small fountain in the middle with couple of benches around for patients or their families to sit and relax. An enormous canteen that supplies food and snacks for everyone in the hospital was also built nearby this ground area.
"I know right, working with cadavers isn't an easy task. Actually— working as a medico isn't an easy task itself. You lack proper meals, proper sleep, and no self time at all, not even for your basic needs and daily routines. It's damn tiring bro," Anna exhaled, caressing Arranya's hair with her lips curved lowly in a displeased smile.
