The music had faded, the lights dimmed, and the party began to wind down as the early hours of the morning crept in. The buzz of laughter and clinking glasses slowly ebbed away, leaving only a few stragglers on the dance floor, still swaying to the last beats of the DJ's set.

Yamini stood with her friends near the entrance and her heels are clicking on the polished floor as they gathered their bags. She'd promised them she wouldn't drive tonight, knowing that after the drinks and the rush of dancing, she wouldn't be in any state to make it home safely.

Yamini : I'll call my driver.

She assured Naina and her voice is a little louder to cut through the noise.

Yamini : Don't worry, I'm not going to drive myself home.

Her friends nodded, satisfied with her promise. They were all ready to go, their laughter and chatter already beginning to spill into the chilly night air outside the pub. One by one, they disappeared into their cars, leaving Yamini alone by the door, a little tipsy, but content.

She took a deep breath by  letting the cool air hit her face. Tonight had been fun, chaotic and wild, a little reckless even. But now, in the stillness, she felt a flicker of something else, a heaviness in her chest she couldn't quite shake off. She looked around for a moment, wondering where to head next, when she heard a voice behind her.

Rudransh : Hey !

Yamini stiffened. She turned to see the man from earlier, the one in the black shirt, standing a few feet away with his hands in the pockets of his denim  jacket, the hint of a smile playing on his lips.

For a split second, she felt an unexpected rush of annoyance. Why was he still here ? She'd danced with him, but that didn't mean she was interested. The whole thing had been just... a moment. Something spontaneous. Nothing more.

With a quick roll of her eyes, she took a step toward him, crossing her arms over her chest.

Yamini : What do you want ?

She asked and her voice is sharper than she intended.

The guy raised an eyebrow with a flicker of confusion flashing across his face.

Rudransh : I just wanted to say hi.

He said and his tone is more neutral than before.

Yamini scoffed, feeling a sudden surge of irritation. She was tired, frustrated, and maybe a little drunk still. She didn't need some random guy thinking this was going anywhere.

Yamini : I didn't 'call' you over for a conversation.

She snapped and  her words are a little more cutting than she intended.

Yamini : It was just a dance. So, don't get any ideas, alright ?

The man blinked, seemingly taken aback by the bluntness of her response. He chuckled, a sound full of bemusement.

Rudransh : Alright, alright !

He said and his tone is light.

Rudransh : I won't.

He shook his head with a small, disbelieving laugh and started to turn, but before he could walk away, Yamini caught sight of something or rather, someone just across the parking lot.

Her stomach dropped. It was him.

Raghav.

And standing beside him was the woman he was 'now' with, his new girlfriend. Yamini's chest tightened at the sight, a pang of jealousy and regret flaring up in her. She hadn't expected to see him tonight, let alone like this. She muttered something under her breath, a curse that was lost in the air between her and the man in the black shirt.

Yamini : Bastard !

She  whispered by  feeling the knot in her stomach twist tighter.

The man in the black shirt paused mid-step, his head turning slightly toward her, catching the murmur. He raised an eyebrow in quiet curiosity.

Rudransh : What's wrong ?

He asked by  sensing the sudden shift in her demeanour.

Yamini glanced at him, her face tight, a sudden impulse making her act without thinking. Her ex, with his new girlfriend, was just standing there, laughing, oblivious to her presence. The jealousy burned inside her, twisting her emotions. She had to do something, anything to feel... in control again. To show him that she didn't care.

And then, like a lightbulb going off in her mind, it hit her.

Without even thinking, she walked toward the man in the black shirt. He froze in place as she closed the distance between them. Without warning, she reached up and pulled him toward her, her lips crashing into his in a kiss that was far more impulsive than she intended. It was quick, desperate, and forceful, just a touch of her frustration wrapped up in a single motion.

The man stiffened in surprise, clearly taken aback by her sudden move. His eyes widened in shock, but before he could react, she broke away and stepped back, looking him squarely in the eyes.

For a moment, there was complete silence between them. He stood there, frozen, blinking in confusion and disbelief, as if trying to process what had just happened.

Yamini didn't care. Her gaze was already locked on Raghav, who was standing with his girlfriend a little ways off. The satisfaction of seeing him notice her, 'seeing him watch her kiss someone else' was enough to make the tension in her chest ease, if only slightly.

She glanced back at the man and  her voice is quiet but urgent.

Yamini : Play along !

She said and  her words are  more like a command than a request.

Yamini : Please.

He was still frozen, his eyes wide with shock.

Rudransh : What... what are you doing ? What have you done ?
