5 DAYS LATER ,
The airport terminal buzzed with the usual pre-flight chaos, people are rushing to check-in counters, announcements are echoing over the PA system, and families huddled together in anticipation of their departures. Yamini stood near the entrance to the security line, her phone pressed against her ear as she tried, once again, to reach Rudransh.
Yamini to herself : Come on, pick up the phone, Rudransh.
She muttered under her breath, her eyes darting between the gates and her phone's screen. She had called him multiple times already, but every time, it went to voicemail. It was unlike him to be late, especially with something this important.
Yamini : He better not miss this flight.
Yamini thought, feeling a small, uncharacteristic thread of annoyance pulling at her patience.
She dialed his number again, her finger tapping the screen impatiently, when suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. Without thinking, she spun around, her frustration bubbling over.
Yamini : Rudransh ! What the hell ? Do you know how long I've been waiting for you ? I've called you at least...
Her voice trailed off as she found herself facing a wide-eyed Rudransh, looking a little too surprised by her outburst. His expression shifted quickly from shock to a sheepish smile, his hands raised in a gesture of mock surrender.
Rudransh : Yamini, I'm sorry! I didn't hear my phone. I already messaged you about the traffic. You really didn't have to yell.
He said, his voice warm but tinged with amusement.
Yamini sighed, feeling her irritation fizzle out as she glanced around and noticed a few people in the terminal looking their way, some of them giving her curious glances. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she adjusted her bag over her shoulder. She read the message now.
Yamini : Ugh, I'm sorry.
She muttered by rolling her eyes.
Yamini : I'm just a little on edge today. I've got a million things running through my head, and you're the one person I'm waiting for !
