Author's Note: Sorry for the delay, everyone! I'm in my last month of this semester for college, so things are getting more hectic. I promise you that I haven't disappeared. I decided that I missed these two, and this was the story I was most excited about writing. Please be aware that a lot of the beginning chapters will be from Kayax's perspective, as there is quite a bit that happens before chapter ten. Yes, yes. Chapter ten is going to start your turning point for these two. Understand that even when they're mashing faces, there is still a lot of story to tell and a lot of obstacles for them to overcome.
See you between the pages. OH, AND IF YOU COULD VOTE ON THE CHAPTERS, I'D GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!<3

"Twist under... Kayax, your left, not my left."
Kayax let out a groan of frustration before he twisted to his left and dipped under my arm so the handcuffs wouldn't get tangled. He held a bowl in his hand, expertly keeping it from flipping over.
We were in the kitchen, making pineapple upside-down cake. We already had almost everything done, but we were struggling with working around each other. The little gremlin moved a lot but was weirdly fluid in the kitchen. That wasn't something I would have guessed in a million fucking years, but here we were.
Kayax yanked at the handcuffs, sending me a glare when I didn't move close enough for him to consider acceptable. I gave him one right back before the two of us realized we were supposed to be in a loving relationship or whatever.
However, Kayax was one step ahead of me when he said. "August, I understand we haven't been this close for this amount of time, but I need you to work with me, please. I'm getting a little frustrated."
I angled my head. "Anything for you, Kaya."
Whatever sparkle in his eye made the stars in his eyes twinkle, I couldn't be sure, but he seemed to enjoy the nickname I gave him. He wiped it away before going back to dumping the mixture of the cake into the pan. I had to stand abnormally close to him so that he could accomplish it. I hated how good he smelled when I was this close to him.
Maybe he was just a little too good at this.
After Kayax put the cake in the oven, he yanked me toward the safe room. Something told me this little hyena had some comments to get out of his system. What a coincidence. So the fuck did I.
There was only so much cutesy bullshit I could do before I exploded. At least Kayax and I seemed to be on the same page where that was concerned.
He opened the door, pulling me in by the cuffs before slamming it behind us. "Oh, my god. Have you never spent a second in the fucking kitchen?" Those flaming green eyes turned on me. "I don't think you could tell apart a spatula from your goddamn thumb! Being shacked up with you is the worst existence."
I snorted a laugh. "You seemed to have everything taken care of, Kaya, and--"
"And stop with the fucking nickname! Pick something else!" I saw the anger in his gaze, but there was something else there I couldn't quite identify as he asked me to stop. "Pick literally anything else. Just stop using that stupid nickname. It's not even clever."
Something pulled inside of my chest, and while I ignored it, I somehow still remembered to respect people when they asked me to stop crossing a clear boundary that was set. Kayax set a goddamn boundary, and I knew well enough to never cross it now.
I'd need to scream at my parents later for teaching me to respect other humans. Unfortunately, that included the less-than-glittery superstar in front of me.
