(Y/N) didn't know what to do.

Only two days after Kane had left the apartment when she had asked him to come, the police arrived to question both her and Devon as he had never returned to his house that night. It struck her to her very core, and she didn't know how much more loss she could take. Sitting at the dining table after the police had left, her head propped up by her hand, she shook softly as she cried.

How many times was that now?

How many times has she cried in the past few months?

She wasn't sure.

It felt like too much.

"(Y/N)?" Devon uttered as he placed a hand on her shoulder, grabbing her attention so she could look up at him with those now dull (E/C) eyes of hers. "You okay?"

"No," she looked away. "No..."

"It'll be alright, darling..." he whispered softly, both hands now on her shoulders as he stood behind her, his breath warm on her neck from how he leaned in closer before he then began to place soft kisses along her flesh. "Everything will be alright, you'll see... I can promise you that."

Soon enough, the slow, drawn out act of innocent kisses that peppered up her neck and up towards her jaw slowly melted away as he turned her head so he could press his lips against hers in a deep kiss. His fingers traced lightly up and down her arms as he somehow managed to deepen the kiss despite how (Y/N) began to lean away. Tightening his grip on her, he forced her lips apart with his tongue so he could explore her mouth, tasting the sweetness in every corner. This act of lust was the only way he could express the need he felt and wanted to portray despite the way (Y/N)'s muscles tightened underneath his touch.

"Devon..." she whispered as she pulled away. "Please... stop."

"Why?" He murmured between kisses.

"I just lost my friend," she uttered coldly, turning her head away from him with jaded eyes, something that made his lips twitch. "I don't need this from you right now. No, I don't need it from you at all anymore. Whatever this is? We're done. I shouldn't have even let you do this to me. It's so fucking wrong and disgusting." She pressed her fingers against her forehead in disbelief and exasperation as she continued with a mutter, "Just leave me alone."

Devon retracted his hands, however the look on his face was devoid of emotion.

What?

She never should have done this?

It's wrong?

It's disgusting?

After everything... after everything I've done for her... she now says this to me?

"(Y/N)," Devon spoke coldly down to her. "Look at me. Now." He waited until she glanced up at him before he roughly grabbed her by her jaw to jerk her head upwards, ignoring her sharp intake of breath as he stated, "I will only ask once that you never speak to me like that again. The next time I will not. Do you understand?"

(Y/N)'s expression immediately descended into a scowl as she jerked away from him, about to snap at him until he suddenly stepped forward unnervingly close and quick, one hand on the back of her chair while the other was splayed out on the top of the dining table. His gaze was intense, disturbing, and utterly spine-chilling, something that burrowed so uncomfortably deep into her very being that she could feel herself freezing with fear.

"(Y/N)..." Devon uttered once again. "I love you."

"What?" She exclaimed as she abruptly pulled away, her expression of anger and fear slowly melting into one of shock as she struggled to contain the different emotions she was feeling.

"You heard me," he proclaimed as he leaned in even closer, his dark green eyes boring into her own with a type of arduous determination that made her skin prickle with a discomforting, ragged heat. "I love you more than anything in this world and would gladly give up anything to be with you, and not just behind closed doors like this. Whatever nonsense you just spouted I will forget if you please tell me you love me too. After all..." A strained, almost psychotic chuckle escaped his lips as he continued, "...you have no one else but me now."

Quickly, (Y/N) shoved him away, scrambling from her seat to stand up so she could put some distance between them.

She was disgusted.

No, she was more than disgusted.

She felt absolutely appalled at the very idea that Devon was suggesting he was pleased with the deaths of her closest friends. Her mind then flashed to her mother, and she could practically feel the bile rising up in the back of her throat at how she knew Devon was particularly uncaring of Katherine's death. Considering how he not only had manipulated (Y/N) into sleeping with him, but now his confession only cemented the fact.

"You... are absolutely revolting," (Y/N) proclaimed in a clam manner despite how her hands trembled, watching the way Devon's whole face became awash with pure rage.

"Revolting?" He whispered, his voice cracking from the strain. "You... think I am revolting?"

"Yes."

A short, bark of laughter peeled from his lips, something that made (Y/N)'s insides curl in distaste. It was almost as if her body physically couldn't stand the thought that she had allowed him to be inside her. If she were being honest, she loathed how her grief had sunken her to that kind of low. She was thankful how her eyes were now opened, as she counts stand to bear the thought of continuing to be under Devon's thumb.

Now, she was seeing him for who he really was, and she didn't like it one bit.

"I'm leaving," (Y/N) then muttered as she swiftly turned on her heel to walk towards the stairs and up to her room, not even bothering to glance behind her since she could already tell by the heavy footfalls that Devon was following her.

"Leaving?" He spat with enough venom to make her physically cringe. "And where will you go, huh? Nowhere. Because there isn't anywhere you can go. And what even makes you think you can even leave in the first place? You were put under my care, and I absolutely forbid you from going anywhere."

"Care?" She scoffed. "I'm an adult. You can't prevent me from doing anything."

Just as (Y/N)'s fingers brushed against the cold door handle to her room, a harsh grip was wrapped around her head before it forced her forehead down onto the doorframe with a harsh crack. The next thing she knew, her vision was going black as she fell to the floor with a heavy thud.
