Upon pulling into the driveway of her house, (Y/N) was surprised to find that her mother's car was nowhere to be seen while Devon's car was in its place. Puzzled, she however shook off her confusion as she un-clicked her seatbelt, grabbed her bag, and locked her car before walking up to the front door. Just as she was about to stick her key into the lock, she startled when the door instead opened, Devon standing there with a pleasant smile.

"Ah, (Y/N), you're back," he hummed as he stepped aside, opening the door wider to allow her entrance inside. "How was school?"

"School was fine, thanks," she smiled whilst stepping past him, depositing her shoes in her assigned shoe bin and readjusting her bag on her shoulder to alleviate weight distribution. "How was work?"

"Work was fine, too," he spoke, closing the door behind him, watching (Y/N) as she moved around. "We recently signed a contract with a business who will certainly aid our own company in the future. Not only that, but I learned something rather... interesting."

"Oh?" She glanced back at him. "Like what?"

"It's nothing you have to know," Devon gave her a simpering smile as he laced his fingers respectfully behind his back. "It's unimportant."

"Alright," she shrugged. "Anyways, I'm going to go upstairs and get some homework done."

"Ah, before you go, I was wondering if you could inform me of something," Devon was quick to call (Y/N) back before she could disappear upstairs, finding it amusing how eager she had been to run up the stairs to her room. "Your school... how would you describe it? The people in your school as well. Are you... satisfied there?"

"Huh?" She blinked, looking somewhat confused by his question. "Of course. I'm very happy with my school and my friends."

"Mm..." Devon nodded in understanding, though his smile somewhat tightened.

It was a small change

Unnoticeable.

Barely discernible.

Yet it was there all the same.

"Is... everything okay?" (Y/N) continued with a small furrow of her brows and a slight tilt of her head, silently questioning what had spurred Devon to suddenly ask about her school.

"Yes, everything's fine, I just wanted that confirmation," Devon waved away her words. "Thank you. That was all."

"Alright..." she trailed off as she gave him one last, quick smile before climbing the stairs.
