When (Y/N) walked into her AP Lit classroom late, and slightly wobbling, Dante couldn't help but notice an uneasy feeling pooling in the pit of his gut. After all, he could tell from her expression that she looked slightly dazed, and slightly out of it. Drumming his fingers rapidly against the top of his desk, his gaze followed her as she sat down next to him, if she even noticed she sat next to him considering she didn't even spare him a glance.

His brow ticked.

Why was he so irritated?

Was it because he hadn't heard anything from (Y/N) after they kissed? Because she rejected his offer this morning? Because she was now acting as if she hardly even knew he existed despite not only being friends, but were on the cusp of something more?

He didn't know.

But he sure did care.

Too much, it seemed, that he cared.

It was why, as Dante went throughout his day, that his desperation to talk to (Y/N) came roaring back just like it did that last Thursday. He couldn't stand how tortuous the wait was until lunch, which he knew would be the perfect time to get her alone to talk about what was brewing in his mind. So, as soon as the bell rang to signal that free slot of time, he sprang up from his chair to stalk towards the library, the place where he knew (Y/N) would be considering she had been frequenting the space ever since her mother had passed.

"Hey!" A voice called out, Dante jolting out of his thought by both the sound and the hand that fell on his shoulder.

"Huh?" He glanced back.

"Where're you going?" Carlos questioned, as he was the one who stopped Dante, both Zara and Maya flanking him with curiosity lingering within their gazes. "You're not going to the cafeteria?"

"Oh, uh... no," Dante shook his head, fully facing his friends. "I'm gonna talk to (Y/N) real quick in the library. I wasn't able to do so that much last Thursday..."

"Want us to come with you?" Zara offered.

"No, it's okay," he quickly interceded. "I was hoping to talk to her, you know... alone."

"Alright," Maya nodded in understanding. "Tell her we said 'hi', and that we hope she's doing well."

"Yeah..." he smiled.
