Maya Aseal
The next day was practically a mess.
The hospital still had cops walking around asking questions while others left campus to drive around asking people who had seen Killian. Killian must have done a good job escaping because many - not all - have answered, 'No, sir. We have not seen a man like that around here.' or 'No, sir. The last time we all saw him was in the cafeteria.'
Even some of the patients were questioned and answered.
From afar, I saw Solana talking to a cop her type before she waltzed away from him to me.
"What did you say to them?" I shove my hands in my coat pockets.
"Nothing much. Pretty much all of the cops are stuck on finding Killian." She mimics my position by shoving her hands in her pockets and leaning against my car. "Killian did a pretty good job at what he did. I'll give him that."
Me too.
Our lips fall shut while watching all of the chaos unfold in front of our eyes. I would love to tell Solana that Killian is staying with me and that he's okay, but knowing the girl. She would have a whole panic attack about how I'm living.
"Maya, I have a question." Solana turns to me.
My body turns to her. "I may have an answer."
"Killian is living with you isn't he?" How did she figure this out?
"W-What? No!" I wave her off.
"You sure? Because the hickey on your neck says otherwise." She puts the forming purple, black spot growing on my neck. I gasped, turning to face my car's window.
"Damn it!" I hissed.
"I knew it!" She points a finger in my face.
I go to shut her up and pull her away into a secluded area.
"Shut. Up!" I harshly whispered. "And how did you figure this out?!"
"It's easy. See, think about it. Killian, the only way out of this hospital is your apartment. Plus, not to mention, you like that man's only safe place when something is happening!" Solana throws her arms up in the air. "And that you haven't got action in years."
"Hey!" I slapped her.
"What?! Maya, you know it's true." She rubs the spot where I hit her.
I scowled at her for a bit before sighing.
"Please don't say anything. Not even to Lisa." I nibble my lip.
"Yeah, there's no need to tell her." I cock an eyebrow.
"What do you mean by that?" She goes to point behind me. Turning around, my eyes widen when I come into contact with an open-eyed-mouthed Lisa. The cup that was in her hand is now on the floor. Coffee spilled all over the cement.
"Lisa.." I whispered.
"You're keeping him safe?!" She threw her hands in the air, catching some of the cops' attention.
Solana and I go to hush her up by grabbing her forearm and pulling her into the space with us."Would you keep it down! I had no choice!" I whispered.
"Maya, do you know how much trouble you and Killian could get in?! Especially you!" Lisa explains.
"I know, but he has nowhere else to go, and he doesn't want to come back," I explain, looking down at my shoes.
"You're joking?!"
"What?!"
Lisa and Solana say in unison. All I could do was nod in response before pulling out a sheet of paper from my pocket.
I meant to show this.
"I know, I know, but I have something important to show you both," I explain while pulling my phone out and flashing the light.
"What could be more important than Killian staying with you." Solana crosses her arms.
"This." I go to flash the light on the paper.
Lisa and Solana go to look over at the paper, seeing nothing at first until I flash the light under the paper. The two girls' eyes widened. Lisa was in pure shock while Solana was burning fire behind her eyes.
"What the - what is this?!" Solana grits.
"Is this some type of hit list?" Lisa goes to look up at me.
"I don't know, but when you gave me the paper, I went home to look over it again until I held it up to my kitchen light. I just kept it to myself until I saw you both." I explained. Our eyes fall back onto the now-shown list of people who are supposed to be dead by now.
