Chapter 22: The CEO's announcement

Yeonjun receives a call from his father.
Mr.Choi: Yeonjun
his father's voice came through the phone, filled with pride and a touch of formality.
Mr.choi: I need u to come to the office for a meeting

Yeonjun, slightly startled, quickly agrees and heads to his father’s office. When he arrives, his father greets him with a smile, clearly pleased with something.

Mr.Choi: Son....
his father begins,
Mr.Choi: I've been thinking about this for a long time I'm officially making you CEO of this company within few months after your graduation. You'll be leading the company.

Yeonjun blinks, stunned for a moment.
Yj: Wait what!  I didn't expect it dad! I'm not ready for this.

His father nods, pleased with the reaction.
Mr.Choi: I know son but you're the eldest & the next leader after me so this is your time. Tomorrow we'll introduce you as the future CEO there's a business party tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. & I'll introduce u as the future CEO to everyone. we'll have everything arranged including a special wardrobe for you the maids will bring it up to your room tomorrow..

Yeonjun nods slowly, taking it all in. While part of him is overwhelmed with the responsibility, another part feels a surge of pride and power. With this new position, he can control everything—even Beomgyu.

Yj: Got it Dad. I'll try to do my best. I'll be ready in time. 
Yeonjun says, a smile slowly forming on his lips.

As soon as he leaves the office, Yeonjun heads to Beomgyu’s room, eager to let him know. He barges into the room and stands tall, as if the news alone will somehow intimidate Beomgyu.As Beomgyu was quietly sitting in his room, his phone suddenly buzzed. It was a message from Soobin, checking in to see if he was okay. Beomgyu smiled softly at the message, feeling a sense of warmth. But just as he was about to reply, he heard footsteps approaching.

The door creaked open, and there stood Yeonjun, his usual confident and cold expression now mixed with a look of anticipation.

Yj: Beomgyu..guess what..
Yeonjun said, his voice low but laced with authority.

Beomgyu sighed and looked away, already exhausted by the conversation before it even started.
Bg: What now?
he muttered.

Yeonjun stepped into the room and closed the door behind him.
Yj: I'm going to be the new CEO of the company after my graduation.
he began, his voice filled with an almost unsettling calmness.
Yj: Dad just called me & told I'll be leading everything within a few months. Everything will be under my control.

Beomgyu raised an eyebrow. He wasn’t surprised. Yeonjun had always been the golden child in the family, the one with all the privilege and power. But today, it felt different.

Yeonjun continued, his gaze intensifying as he watched Beomgyu's reaction.
Yj: Tomorrow there will be a business party to announce me as the future CEO. Everyone will know my name. this going to be big. The event is at 7:00 p.m. Everything is going to be ready for me.

Beomgyu simply nodded, his expression blank, but inside, a small sense of dread crept up. Yeonjun always thrived in these types of events. This new role would give him even more control over Beomgyu, and it made Beomgyu feel like he was losing grip of everything once again.

Yj: You're coming too right? after all your brother's CEO announcement party.
Yeonjun asked, narrowing his eyes, as if expecting Beomgyu to respond with some sort of enthusiasm.

Beomgyu hesitated for a moment before responding, his voice quiet but firm.
Bg: I don't care about your business or company. I'm minding my own business.

Yeonjun’s patience thinned.
Yj: What did u say? u don't care about me?
He took a step closer, eyes flashing with irritation.

Beomgyu, still sitting on his bed, turned his head and faced the window.
Bg: Leave me alone. I just want some peace..
he said, his tone colder than he intended.

Yeonjun was taken aback by Beomgyu’s sudden defiance. His lips curled into a smirk, but it was laced with annoyance.
Yj: You're really teasing me today aren't u?

Beomgyu didn’t reply. He didn’t want to get pulled into another argument, especially not when his thoughts were consumed with everything that had happened over the last few days. He was tired of playing Yeonjun's games. Tired of being his puppet.

Yeonjun, frustrated with the lack of attention, stormed out of the room. Before leaving, he shot one last glance at Beomgyu, his eyes burning with anger.
Yj: Don't forget that I'm the one in control remember that
he spat before slamming the door behind him.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Beomgyu’s hand reached for his phone. He couldn’t hold back anymore. He quickly dialed Soobin’s number.

Bg: Soobin it worked"
Beomgyu said, his voice slightly shaking.
Bg: I told him to leave me alone & he was taken back by it. he actually stormed off. He's realizing I'm not going to be his puppet anymore.

On the other end, Soobin’s voice was filled with excitement.
Sb: I knew it Beom! You're doing great you have to keep it up. you can't show your soft side to him. you have to stand up for yourself. I got your back.

Beomgyu felt a small flicker of relief.
Bg: Thanks Soobin I'll try to keep it up.

Sb: You will. I know u can do it. just keep acting like that don't back down.
Soobin replied, his voice filled with encouragement.

Beomgyu smiled slightly, feeling more determined than ever. Maybe standing up to Yeonjun wasn’t as hard as he thought. And with Soobin’s support, he felt like he had a real chance to break free from the hold Yeonjun had over him.

He put his phone down, letting out a long breath. Tomorrow’s party would be a big deal, but he knew he couldn’t let Yeonjun manipulate him anymore. No matter what it took, Beomgyu was going to find a way to escape this twisted cycle.

And for the first time in a long while, he felt like he had a fighting chance.
