The sun streamed through the wide office windows, casting golden beams across the room. Yeonjun was already at his desk, focused on his laptop, but his concentration faltered when the door creaked open.Beomgyu stepped inside, carrying a few folders. His expression was calm, as if he hadn't noticed he was nearly thirty minutes late.
Yeonjun leaned back in his chair, instinctively glancing up—and froze.
Beomgyu’s side profile caught his attention. The way his hair gently fell against his face, his sharp jawline outlined against the light, and the focused crease in his brows as he scanned through the papers—it all felt oddly captivating.
Yeonjun’s chest tightened. What the hell? he thought, his brows furrowing slightly. He shook his head, trying to focus back on his work, but his gaze wandered again as Beomgyu bent slightly to pick up a stray piece of paper that had slipped from his folder.
Why am I staring at him? Yeonjun scolded himself. He cleared his throat, louder than necessary, causing Beomgyu to pause.
Yj: Morning Gyu.
Yeonjun said, his voice coming out sharper than he intended.Beomgyu looked up, a little startled.
Bg: Good morning sir.
he replied, straightening up.Yj: You're late.
Yeonjun pointed out, gesturing to the clock.Beomgyu glanced at it and shrugged.
Bg: I had a headache last night so I couldn’t wake up in time but it won't happen again sorry sir.
His tone was neutral, but his eyes darted back to his papers, clearly more focused on the task at hand.Yeonjun leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk. He wanted to say something else—anything to keep the conversation going—but his mind was blank.
Yj: What r u working on?
he blurted.Beomgyu raised an eyebrow.
Bg: The marketing drafts you asked for yesterday. Why?Yj: No reason. Carry on
Yeonjun muttered, leaning back in his chair again, feeling a heat rise to his face.Beomgyu gave him a suspicious glance before walking over to his desk, unaware of the effect he had just caused.
As Beomgyu sat at his desk and started working, Yeonjun’s gaze lingered. What is wrong with me? he thought, running a hand through his hair. He had always prided himself on being composed, but the smallest things about Beomgyu were starting to unsettle him.
The light curve of his lips when he spoke, the way he tilted his head while reading something intently—it was all… different. Or maybe Yeonjun was only just noticing it now.
He sighed and forced himself to look away, determined to brush off the strange feelings as nothing more than a passing distraction. But deep down, he knew it wasn’t that simple.
