Chapter 23: CEO Announcement party

The night sparkles with sophistication as guests fill the grand hall for Yeonjun's CEO announcement party. Industry elites, press, and the wealthy gather, eager to meet the young man destined to lead. Soft jazz plays in the background, and the clinking of champagne glasses adds a touch of elegance to the buzzing excitement.

Yeonjun enters the hall, dressed sharply and exuding confidence. As he greets various attendees, there’s a gleam of satisfaction in his eyes, relishing every congratulation and handshake.

Meanwhile, Beomgyu, blending into the sidelines, feels out of place. Soobin stands with him, offering quiet support and keeping a watchful eye on Yeonjun. Before long, Yeonjun notices Beomgyu and strides over, his expression smug as he zeroes in on him.

Yj: So Beomgyu
Yeonjun starts, crossing his arms with a cocky smirk.
Yj: What do u think of my big night?

Beomgyu’s expression is controlled as he mutters,
Bg: Well.....what should I say? Congrats..

Yeonjun leans in close, his tone lowering to a dangerous whisper.
Yj: With this position I'll be able to make all the rules.I'll have more control.So I suggest u o stay in line
His gaze sharpens, voice dripping with condescension.

Beomgyu pauses, glancing away for a moment, and then straightens up, looking Yeonjun square in the eyes.
Bg: Or else what....?
he asks, a daring edge in his voice.

Yeonjun raises an eyebrow, slightly taken aback by Beomgyu’s uncharacteristic boldness.
Yj: Excuse me?

Bg: You think I'm scared of u? well not anymore now...Go ahead try to control me.
Beomgyu replies, his voice calm yet steely.
Bg: Just because you got some title doesn't mean u own me. Maybe it's time u realized that.

Yeonjun’s jaw tightens, his smile fading as he struggles to maintain his composure.
Yj: You really think you're brave now. don't you?

Beomgyu shrugs, feigning indifference.
Bg: Brave or not, I'm done letting you tell me who I can be.
He glances at Soobin, who stands by him firmly, offering silent solidarity.

Realizing he’s losing control of the situation, Yeonjun grits his teeth and steps back.
Yj: Careful Beomgyu you don't want to push your luck.

Beomgyu smirks, his own confidence growing.
Bg: Thanks for the advice. but I think I'll take my chances.

Soobin chimes in, smiling as he says,
Sb: It's refreshing isn't it? seeing someone stand up to you?
Yeonjun's eyes went on Soobin as he smirked & went closer to him almost pinning him to the pillars.
Yj: Babe, I prefer you to stay out of this okay? it's our matter not yours.
Beomgyu quickly pulled Soobin out of Yeonjun's gaze and say
Bg: and I think you should stay away from us, too & enjoy your big day.....

Beomgyu said mocking Yeonjun.
Yeonjun’s eyes flash with irritation, but he quickly schools his expression into a forced smile before stalking off, trying to ignore the slight hum of whispers from onlookers who had caught bits of the exchange.

After a while, Yeonjun is called to the stage for the official announcement. Cameras flash, and his father gives a proud introduction
Mr.Choi: Good evening ladies & gentlemen Today is a big day, one that marks a significant milestone for our company and for our future. It is with great pride and joy that I stand before you to reveal the person who will lead us into the next chapter of growth and success.With full confidence, I am proud to announce CHOI YEONJUN as our future CEO. I believe in his vision, his leadership, and his commitment to each and every one of you. Under his guidance, we will continue to evolve and achieve even greater things together.
after that Yeonjun’s short speech thanking everyone for their support. Despite his confident words, his gaze keeps darting towards Beomgyu and Soobin, as if checking to see if they’re watching.

As the applause fades, an unexpected twist unfolds. One of the board members quietly approaches Yeonjun’s father, whispering something in his ear. Yeonjun’s father’s expression shifts, a look of concern crossing his face. He quickly makes his way to Yeonjun, motioning for him to step aside.

Yj: What's wrong dad?
Yeonjun asks, his tone impatient.

Mr.Choi: There's been a...... complication
his father says, his voice low and strained.
Mr.Choi: Apparently a competitor has managed to secure a critical partnership we were after. It's..going to make things difficult. We'll need to move faster than planned or we risk losing our edge.

Yeonjun’s brow furrows, feeling the weight of his future responsibilities sink in even more heavily. He glances back at Beomgyu, almost as if seeing him as a symbol of everything that could slip out of his grasp if he doesn’t keep control.

In the meantime, Beomgyu and Soobin slip out of the main hall to get some air. Outside, under the stars, Beomgyu lets out a deep sigh, feeling a mix of pride and relief at standing up to Yeonjun.

Bg: Soobin I don't know wht's gonna happen next but finally I feel like I'm taking back my life.

Soobin claps a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
Sb: That's because u are. & whatever comes next I'll be here with you.

As they share a quiet moment, unbeknownst to them, Yeonjun watches from afar, feeling the sting of resentment—and perhaps a hint of fear—that he’s losing control over the one person he thought would always stay under his thumb.
