17. the pretty ex

Kim Haerin

“Thank you for the help! You saved me from spending the night in that restaurant's washroom.” I joked around but Heeseung didn't react back, pulling a straight face that made me go quiet.

“We should go now, it is already late.” I suggested earning a nod before he began to start the car's engine but just as he was about to, he stopped, causing me to look at him confusingly.

“Is there a problem?” I questioned, thinking that our car might have some problem but he denied my thoughts by shaking his head in denial. The next moment his hand extended to grab a paper bag, placed at the backseat. Rummaging through, Heeseung pulled out a packet which seemed like a snack.

He is hungry I guess.

I was still following each of his moves when suddenly he extended his hand towards me, a chocolate bar in his hand. “Eat it, you will feel better.” My eyes slightly widened at his remark, scanning him and the chocolate in disbelief. I could not believe he bought this stuff for me.

“Thank you!” I greeted before taking the chocolate bar from him. A small smile curved on my lips, gazing at the red wrapped up sweet in my hand. Looking out of the window I hid my smiling face from Heeseung before putting it inside my jacket's pocket.

“Welcome back from your long date, Ms. Kim Haerin or should I say Lee?” Eunji teased me the moment I stepped at the entrance of our campus. My eyes are rolling back, passing a light slap to her shoulder.

“It was always Kim and I wasn't on a date. Heeseung just stayed there to help me out.” I defended myself but Eunji still passed me a sly smile which caused me to just ignore her. “Tell me, how were you doing without me?” I diverted the topic, earning a sigh from her, resting her arms around my shoulder. She began to boringly speak about everything that happened with her in one week.

“Way too boring! Just campus to home and home to campus.” I giggled, finding how dramatic she actually sounded when she said it.

“Anyways, tell me about you? You even had your admirer with you. It is impossible that nothing happened between you two.” She teasingly wiggled her brows, causing me to remember all the past incidents between Heeseung and I in that one week.

I felt my cheeks burning by the thoughts only as I shook my head, lying. “Nothing happened, we were just with Grandma, the whole time.” I tried to sound confident explaining it to her. Eunji's eyes squinted at my answer, looking at me in disbelief.

“Do you really think I am going to believe that?” She sarcastically laughed, causing me to shrug as we made our way in the corridor which directed us to our lecture hall. “I don't care if you believe or not because that is the tr- Ouch!”

Before I could complete my words, someone bumped into me causing my tote bag , I was holding onto to fall down, scattering all of my stuff on the ground.

“Haerin, are you okay?” Eunji asked me as I nodded, lifting my gaze up to see the person only to find a girl in front of me. Her beauty flashing on my eyes almost caused me to go blind as I gulped by how pretty she was.

“I am sorry! I was on my phone, I didn't paid attention to where I was going.” She apologised, her honey like voice almost made me forget my own voice as I nodded. “I will help you pick these up.” She reassured, bending down to grab my stuff which made me do it too.
