21. a new beginning?

Third Person

The professor gave a piece of information regarding the topic he has been teaching the students in class. Everyone was focused, determined to keep each information in their mind except a one soul present in the room who was physically present here but her mind was not.

To her the birds flying in the sky which she could capture through the transparent window were more interesting right now. The feeling of independence and happiness was radiating from them as they flew up in the sky, talking to the cold breeze and Sun rays.

Resting her chin over her palm she enjoyed the scenario, unaware of the fact that someone was calling until her best friend slightly shook her to make her come back to reality. Her round puppy eyes widened by the sudden distraction as she faced her friend, who gestured through her eyes, something she was not able to understand.

"What?" She whispered, not being able to get a hold of her gesture, until a deep male voice echoed in the room, calling her which caused her to abruptly get up, almost losing her balance due to shock.

"Kim Haerin!"

"Y-Yes Mr. Choi?" Straightening in her position her eyes scanned the old man in front of her who slightly gave her a disappointed look. Haerin knew she had done something wrong but it was too late to hide it. The whole class was now watching her standing alone among everyone.

The old male shook his head at the girl before his hand fixed his glasses on top of his nose tip. Giving the girl a last glance he told her something before focusing on the book in his hand.

"Meet me in the staff room after the lessons." The girl was surprised by the information he gave her. It was obvious this call out was not something great and he is definitely going to point out something related to her behaviour from the past few days.

The girl slightly slouched down on her place before looking at her best friend who gave her a reassuring smile to console her.

"May I come in, Mr. Choi?" Haerin asked, waiting for the order's permission as he gave her a small glance before nodding his head a little. Crossing her hands in the back, Haerin went to him before standing there, ready to hear what the male had to say to her.

"Kim Haerin, one of the elite students of Hanlim University, right?" He asked giving her a narrow look it through his glasses. She gulped a little before her head slightly moved, nodding at him.

The elder man fixated himself on his chair as he took an envelope from his desk, looking at it before he spoke.

"But it seems like, that lately you are taking your title so lightly that you have stopped paying attention to classes and studies." He pointed out the obvious words Haerin has been afraid to get called out for.

Her grip tightened on her wrist at the back as she lowered her head. Her heart was accelerating fast inside her ribcage, aching like it was being pricked by a throne.

She was not surprised that one day she will face something like this, considering how her life has been taking different turns. She doesn't even know why she is like this.

Because of Heeseung?

But why? Was not it her, who made a stop to everything then why is she the most affected? Why has she been crying in her room every night whenever those memories crossed her mind?

She was badly distracted from her main goal of her life, something that she often was afraid of. But it was actually her fault for trusting that guy despite knowing his flaws. She was distracted by a few days of attraction which led her to here.
