Around the next day, Anri really started to make you take your job seriously. No joking around and messing around with your friends.

Your work as of right now was to... "Huh? I have to supervise team z today. Isn't that Bachira and isagi's team? Cool!", you said to yourself. You went to the cafeteria for a quick breakfast. Why were most of the player's having such depressing good? Were they doing it by choice? Your eyes scanned the cafeteria and you spotted isagi.

Rushing over to his table, you accidentally kicked some of their legs on the way. They gave you a look as if to say 'why is there a girl here?'. As soon as you got to isagi's table, he didn't notice you at first, so you just say down and said, "ahem, excuse me. I was wondering if you've seen anyone name y/n? I'm desperately looking for her.". Isagi turned to you and stared at you for a good three seconds before his eyes widened in shock.

"Y/n?? Seriously? When did you come to Japan? Why are you in blue lock? I need an explanation. What happened to your plans of going to college?"

"Uuh i really wanted to take this job actually. Anri was actually kind enough to help me search for colleges here. Once we find one, I'll go in the mornings and come back in the evenings. Or I may be taking night classes."

"So what exactly do you do at blue lock?"

"I'm one of the managers here. Basically I have to review matches, supervise the players. Basically I'm like your mother now isagi!"

Isagi chuckled and pat your head. "That so?", he said sarcastically, "well then, I'll make sure I listen". You pouted a little and playfully whacked his head off. "I'm serious." Isagi just acknowledged you and went back to eating his food.

"I thought you hated natto?", you asked him rather suspiciously. Isagi just looked down at his food depressed, nodding in agreement. "Then why are you eating it?", you asked again. "I don't have a choice. I have to eat this because of my extremely low ranking. It's embarassing actually. I'm the second lowest ranked in the whole of blue lock.", he said sadly. He seemed to be very disappointed in himself.

"Aww cheer up isagi. Many strikers weren't even chosen to be here. You're already considered one of the best. Just take this as a subranking and improve. Don't be so sad. Though, i am surprised actually. You're really good. So is Bachira. If there really are players better than you here, they must be insane.", you said, bewildered.

"Y/n the problem is that, how I've played soccer up until now.. doesn't matter. Apparently there's another way to playing it if you want to become the best. There's nothing called team spirit here. It's just you for yourself. You need so much ego it makes me feel like a horrible person. I got someone eliminated from blue lock because of this ego they expect us to have. I feel really guilty... But... Otherwise it would have been me who was eliminated. So I'm happy as well. You know what I mean?". He seemed very solemn. This whole "ego" situation was extremely confusing and would take an emotional turn on kind, and caring souls like isagi, you had to admit. But maybe this whole ego thing, was the solution as well. Every good thing comes with consequences, so this is just the consequences of ego, if you try to look at it from an optimistic point of view.

There were a few minutes of comfortable silence between the two of you, and Bachira came and sat down.

"Hey isagi, y/n, isn't it super cool how we all met each other? I mean, you knew both of us but we didn't know each other and this whole program has brought us all together. Sounds like the work of a god of you ask me.", he said extremely happy. His face was practically glowing. You softly smiled at him, silently agreeing with what he said. This was a huge great coincidence. Isagi nodded.
