Always

Yoonah : one moment we were happily leaving, enjoying, making plans and then suddenly, unexpectedly just like that he was gone.

"Flashback"

Yoonah's POV,

It's became a year since we started dating, enjoying the moments together, the days which I spent with Sunghoon was the memorable one. I never want to lose Sunghoon, I want him to be with me forever.

But lately, he has been acting weird, I don't know why he suddenly started to avoid me, started skipping classes making excuses whenever I tried to meet him, even his texts were shorter and not even convincing.

My heart ached, as the questions were swirling around my mind. Did I do something wrong? Or was it something I said?

"Where are you Sunghoon" i whispered my voice tinged with frustration and sadness.

Deep down, little did I know that something was wrong and the thought of losing him not just physically but emotionally was unbearable.

One day, while waiting for Sunghoon in the library, my eyes fell on his bag which was lying on the chair beside me, i hesitated feeling guilty, looking through his things.

But I just need answers... Maybe this will help me to understand why he has been acting so strange.

As I unzipped his bag I found a stack of papers tucked inside, my breath caught at the word medical reports.

My hands trembled as I read further words.

Diagnosis : Acute leukemia

I gasped, my vision blurred because of tears, this can't be true. I flipped through the pages to find some mistakes, some errors or maybe some misunderstanding. But it was all real.

Tears rolled down my cheeks, as a million questions flooded in my mind, why didn't he tell me? Why was he facing this on his own?

The thought of enduring him on his own without having me beside him broke my heart. I made a silent promise to myself,

I won’t let you go through this alone, Sunghoon. No matter what happens, I’ll be here for you.

Nobody's POV,

As Yoonah sat on the chair, Sunghoon came and he froze the moment he saw papers in her hands.

Sunghoon : Yoonah!

His voice was quiet and pleading.

Yoonah : Sunghoon.. what is this?

Her voice cracked while saying.

Sunghoon sighed deeply and walked slowly towards her.

Sunghoon : you weren't supposed to find this.

Yoonah : weren't supposed to find this?  she exclaimed, her voice breaking. You’ve been hiding this from me all this time? You’re-
She choked on the words, unable to say them out loud.

Sunghoon : Yoonah, listen to me, he said, crouching down in front of her. I didn’t want you to worry. I didn’t want you to-

Yoonah : Don’t!

she cut him off, her tears falling freely now.

Don’t tell me you were trying to protect me by shutting me out! How could you go through this alone, Sunghoon? How could you not trust me with this?”

His eyes softened as he placed his hands gently on hers, though she didn’t pull away.

Sunghoon : It’s not about trust, Yoonah. It’s about love. I didn’t want to see you hurt because of me. I thought… if I could deal with it on my own, you could live without this weight.

She reached out, cupping his face with both hands, forcing him to look at her. 

Yoonah : Don’t shut me out again. If we’re going to face this, we’ll do it together.

Sunghoon nodded, his tears finally escaping as he pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. In that moment, they both knew their love would have to be stronger than ever to endure what lay ahead.

From that day, Yoonah made it a mission to spend as much time as possible with Sunghoon. Dad by day Sunghoon was getting weak, it's hard for him to attend the classes so Yoonah used to share her notes, explain to him, they are enjoying their little moment in his dorm.

Sunghoon : you don't have to do all this.
Yoonah.

He whispered, with his weak voice

Yoonah : you don't get to decide that Sunghoon, I want to be here, and I need to be here.

She said with a small smile.

Sunghoon couldn't help but feel grateful for having her always beside him, her love and support gave him strength on his darkest days

Even though she cheered him in his hurtful days but deep down she is broken apart, she wants to cry, scream and tell him how much she needed him, she can't leave without him.

No matter how much she wanted to share these thoughts with him but she couldn't, she didn't want to make his remaining days heavier by showing him her pain.

For Sunghoon, she was the light in his darkness. For Yoonah, he was the love she could never forget.

Sunghoon had grown so pale it's painful for her to see him this way. His once Bright eyes which were holding a whole world now only show tiredness filled with struggles.

Sunghoon : Yoonah ! I don't want to die, I want to live with you, want to love you, marry you, grow old with you.

He said while crying heavily with a cracking voice.

Yoonah's chest ached as she leaned forward pressing her forehead against him. She let her tears fall

Yoonah : i am scared, I also can't imagine the world without you. But you’re the strongest person I know, Sunghoon. You’ve fought so hard… and I promise, I’ll keep fighting for you, for us.

Sunghoon : please stay by my side, I love you Yoonah... Love you a lot.

He leaned capturing her lips for the last time, filled with love and emotions for each other.

Yoonah : I will, always...

And just like that he is gone, his hand, once warm in hers, grew cold. Yoonah couldn't hold back her sobs, her body trembling as she collapsed beside him.

he had promised he would always stay, but fate had other plans. The man she loved, the man who had brought light back into her life, was now gone. She didn’t know how to keep going, how to fill the hole he had left in her heart.

The tears wouldn’t stop, falling like rain as she whispered to him once more, "I will always love you, Sunghoon..Always."
