Sun was setting up and Yohan decided to confront her,
Yohan : mom I need to ask you something .
Minso sitting in the living room with her usual pose, looked up.
Minso : what is it Yohan ?
Yohan: Do you still have that scarf I gave you on your birthday? The one with the golden initials?
Her calm expression faltered for the briefest moment, but she quickly recovered.
Minso : Why ask about that now?
Yohan reached into his pocket and placed a still image from the footage on the table-a clear shot of the scarf peeking out from the pocket.
Yohan : Because I found it. In a place it shouldn't have been.
Her eyes widened briefly before narrowing. She placed her teacup down carefully, as if buying time to compose herself.
Minso : Yohan, I don't know what you're implying, but-
Yohan : Don't lie to me, Mom! The scarf, the tampered brakes, the evidence-it all points to you! Tell me the truth. Were you behind my accident?
The silence was deafening. Minso stood, her gaze meeting his, a mixture of guilt and defiance.
Minso : Yes. It was me. But it wasn't supposed to harm you! It was meant to wake you up, to prepare you for the battles ahead.
Yohan's fists clenched at his sides, his voice trembling with rage and heartbreak.
Yohan : You risked my life to teach me a lesson? You think this is what a mother does?! You tried to kill me... because you wanted the companies to collaborate? I thought it was Dad, but it was you? My own mother?
Minso's face hardened for a moment, but her composure cracked under the weight of his words.
Minso : Yohan, it wasn't like that-
Yohan (interrupting) : Then what was it like? You had someone tamper with my car, risked my life, and for what? A business deal? Do you hear how insane that sounds
Minso took a deep breath, trying to regain control of the situation.
Minso : You don't understand. This was for the company, for the family. You're too soft, too trusting, Yohan. The board was losing confidence, and we couldn't afford to appear weak -
Yohan (cutting her off) : So your solution was to stage my death? To eliminate me like I'm some kind of liability?!
Yohan : I can't believe this. I thought Dad was the one behind this madness. I was ready to confront him, hate him for it. But it was you all along. My own mother.
Minso tried to approach him, her voice softening.
Minso : I did it for you, Yohan. For the future. You don't realize how much is riding on this company-
Yohan (stepping back) : Don't you dare say it was for me. Nothing about this was for me. It was for your power, your pride. And you're willing to destroy everything for it-even your own son.
His voice cracked, a mix of fury and sorrow.
Yohan : You've lost me, Mom. Whatever trust, love, or respect I had for you-it's gone. You killed it the moment you decided I was expendable."
Minso opened her mouth to protest, but Yohan held up a hand, his gaze cold and unwavering.
Yohan : Save it. I don't want to hear your excuses. Just stay out of my life.
He turned away, leaving her standing there. As he walked out, he felt the weight of a bond forever fractured, a wound that might never heal.
As Yohan reached home, the familiar silence of the house greeted him. The once comforting atmosphere now felt suffocating. His steps were heavy, and his thoughts raced, replaying the confrontation with his mother over and over again.
Dropping onto the couch, he buried his face in his hands. The weight of the betrayal crushed him.
Yohan (whispering to himself) : How did it come to this? How could she do this to her own son?
His phone buzzed on the table, snapping him out of his thoughts. It was Yoonah. He hesitated for a moment before answering.
Yoonah : Yohan, are you home? You left so suddenly from the office. I've been worried.
Her voice, gentle and filled with concern, was the only solace he had.
Yohan : Yes... I'm home.
Yoonah : Can I come over? Please, let me be there for you.
For a brief moment, he considered saying no. He didn't want her to see him like this-broken, vulnerable. But deep down, he knew he needed her.
Yohan : Come.
Within minutes, Yoonah arrived. As she stepped into the living room, she immediately noticed his disheveled appearance and the turmoil in his eyes. She walked over, kneeling in front of him.
Yoonah : What happened, Yohan? Please talk to me.
He looked at her, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Yohan : It was my mother, Yoonah. She was behind the accident. She risked my life... just to prove a point.
Yoonah's eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat.
Yoonah : Your... mother? How? Why would she-
Yohan (interrupting) : She wanted to secure a collaboration, to show the board she had control. She thought I was too weak, too soft to run the company. So she staged this... this nightmare. She wanted me out of the way.
Yoonah reached out, placing her hand gently on his arm, grounding him as he seemed on the verge of breaking.
Yoonah : Yohan... I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine the betrayal you must feel.
He turned to her, his eyes glistening with unshed tears, a mix of anger and sorrow evident in his expression.
Yohan : I trusted her, Yoonah. She's my mother. How could she? I've spent my life trying to make her proud, and this is how she repays me?
Yoonah moved closer, cupping his face in her hands.
Yoonah : You don't deserve this, Yohan. You're strong, capable, and you've survived something unimaginable. Don't let her actions define you. You're better than that.
Her warmth, her presence, was the anchor he needed. For the first time since discovering the truth, he allowed himself to let go. Tears streamed down his face as he clung to her, releasing all the pain, anger, and betrayal he had been holding inside.
Yohan : I feel so lost, Yoonah. If I can't trust my own mother... who can I trust?
Yoonah : You have me, Yohan. Always. You're not alone in this. We'll get through it together.
Her words, simple yet heartfelt, were enough to steady his spiraling emotions. In that moment, Yohan realized that even though his mother's betrayal had shaken him, Yoonah's unwavering support was the beacon of hope he desperately needed.
