Yin Lin sized up Song Qi, incredulous that such a well-dressed, elite-looking man could be a psychiatric patient.

Wait a minute, can a psychiatric patient be a professor?

Yin Lin suppressed her doubts, smiling at Director Wang, "Um, he used to be our neighbor."

Director Wang laughed heartily, "What a coincidence! Professor Song was specially invited to teach you biology and chemistry for the competition. You must work hard and bring glory to the school."

He said this to Yin Lin. Yin Jingnan, standing idly by, seized the opportunity to pull Yin Lin and Mu Miao away.

Mu Miao glanced at Song Qi, meeting his gaze.  Uncertain emotions swirled in the latter's dark eyes. Song Qi stared at him, offering a strangely unfamiliar smile.

Mu Miao returned the smile, then turned to Yin Jingnan and Yin Lin, "He seems to be having another episode."

Song Qi: "..."

Thus, the youngest professor received three looks of pity. He recognized this look—the look one gives to an idiot.

Yin Lin and Yin Jingnan were in an art student's class. Yin Lin was called out by her teacher as soon as she arrived, while Yin Jingnan was tidying her desk.

Suddenly, a group of people surrounded a girl who walked in, her head held high, a sneer on her lips. "Pei Nuo is dead? What does that have to do with our family? Don't think that just because some stray cat or dog has the surname Pei, they're actually part of the Pei family."

Her friend frowned slightly, with a hint of pity, "But it seems like he died of murder, it's a bit tragic."

Cheng Xinxin shrugged indifferently, "So what? Maybe he was messing around outside and got retaliated against. He didn't look decent anyway, and you can't blame others for noticing him?"

Mu Miao recognized the girl as Pei Qingye's cousin, who always called him a vixen and once threw mop water on Pei Nuo in the middle of winter.

Sure enough, the Pei family isn't good.

Mu Miao pursed her lips, stroking the cat in her arms.

The cat sensed the hostility from Cheng Xinxin, its fur bristling as it arched its back, ready to scratch her face.

Yin Jingnan glanced at the group, twirling a strand of her long hair around her finger. She suddenly asked Mu Miao, "What's your name in this world?"

Mu Miao froze, obediently replying, "Pei Nuo."

"Oh~" Yin Jingnan nodded, a meaningful smile playing on her lips. "So you're the promiscuous, unchaste person they're talking about."

Mu Miao's face flushed crimson. She angrily retorted, "They're lying, I'm not."

Yin Jingnan picked up the thermos cup on the desk, casually tossing it a couple of times.  Her long braids swung behind her. "It's okay, sis will help you."

Mu Miao's first reaction was to object, "I'm the older brother."

Before she could even process the meaning of her words, Yin Jingnan strode toward Cheng Xinxin, pushing aside those around her to reach Cheng Xinxin's side.

Cheng Xinxin felt inexplicably uneasy when she saw her approaching. "Yin Jingnan, what are you doing?"

"Me? Beating you up."

As soon as the words left her mouth, Yin Jingnan raised the thermos cup and, with lightning speed, smashed it on Cheng Xinxin's head with a "clang."

"Ah!"

The surrounding students screamed and scattered. Cheng Xinxin fell heavily to the ground, her head bleeding profusely, already unconscious.

Mu Miao: "!!!"

Yin Jingnan looked at her handiwork with satisfaction, giving Mu Miao a triumphant glance before addressing the stunned classmates with a light tone, "Call 120, or she'll die."

If it weren't for the weapon still in her hand, her tone would have made her sound like a helpful bystander.

Mu Miao was shocked, "Jingnan, you, you..."

"It's fine," Yin Jingnan waved her hand, lowering her voice.  "Xiran isn't home today."

Mu Miao: "..."

So you dared to beat someone up because of that?

As expected, Yin Jingnan was calmly called to the office afterward, and Mu Miao followed dejectedly.

He shouldn't have told Jingnan about this, but recalling Cheng Xinxin's pathetic state, he couldn't help but smile.

The feeling of being protected was indeed quite good.

This subtle feeling abruptly ceased when he saw Song Qi in the office.

Song Qi sat at the desk, his long, beautiful fingers holding a pen, writing various chemical formulas. His eyes behind his glasses occasionally glanced at Mu Miao.

Although Mu Miao knew Song Qi couldn't see him—he was looking at someone he imagined—he still felt a nervous tension, like he'd been caught doing something wrong.

Mu Miao quietly hid behind Yin Jingnan, avoiding Song Qi's gaze.

Director Wang sighed, sighing every time he looked at Yin Jingnan. He earnestly said, "Tell me, why couldn't you solve things peacefully? Why resort to violence?"

Yin Jingnan said casually, "I just didn't like her."

Director Wang's chest heaved violently, his fingers trembling as he pointed. He quickly picked up the goji berry tea on his desk and took a sip before he could be driven mad.

Which student at West isn't precious?  These teachers couldn't hit them or scold them, so they could only call their parents to resolve the issue.

Mu Miao felt like a target under Song Qi's gaze. Yin Jingnan, noticing his discomfort, also looked at Song Qi, then frowned.

This person's aura was strange.

The office echoed only with Director Wang's lecturing, while the other three remained locked in their silent confrontation: Song Qi staring at Mu Miao, Mu Miao hiding behind Yin Jingnan, and Yin Jingnan staring at Song Qi.

After a while, a tall, imposing man walked in, dressed in a suit, with a secretary by his side, as if he'd just rushed from an important meeting.

Mu Miao stood up in surprise, "Brother Yanxu."

Yanxu, the God of Death.

Mu Miao and Yanxu were both gods related to death; therefore, Mu Miao was sometimes called the Little God of Death.

Upon hearing this address, Song Qi looked at Yanxu without changing his expression. Yanxu's appearance was extremely aggressive, the opposite of Mu Miao's gentle nature.

Are they brothers? Song Qi frowned.

Yanxu saw him and showed a flash of surprise, but remained silent, nodding as a greeting.  However, Yin Jingnan's face fell upon seeing him, turning her head to ignore him.

Director Wang greeted him, "You must be Jingnan's uncle, nice to meet you."

Yin Jingnan sneered, her eyes cold, "Uncle? He's my blind brother's newly married husband!"

Director Wang: "...Huh?"

Mu Miao: "...Huh?!"

Yanxu sighed, walked to Mu Miao and Yin Jingnan, grabbed the back of their collars, one in each hand, and lifted them up to leave, saying, "Tell my secretary about anything."

Then, he left with the two children, leaving Director Wang flustered, a few more strands of hair falling from his already thinning head.

After instructing his secretary and exchanging contact information, Director Wang collapsed into his chair.

Song Qi tapped his fingers lightly on the desk, "Your albino student has a connection to the Pei family?"

Director Wang drank half a bottle of goji berry tea, "It's good that they have a connection, so they can resolve it privately. This Yin student's background is quite mysterious, it's unclear which family's child she is. I don't think there's any wealthy family with the surname Yin in Yun City."

"Anyway, the siblings were sent by the principal, who was extremely polite to them.  Their status must be quite high."

Song Qi gazed at Mu Miao's back, lost in thought. He had already investigated Pei Nuo's information, but found it hard to believe that the timid and cowardly boy was the one before him.

Just when he thought he wouldn't see the little ghost for a long time, Mu Miao returned that afternoon.

Mu Miao's body had become solid, now wearing the West School uniform. The close-fitting white shirt and black suit outlined a perfect waistline, though his delicate little face was gloomy.

—"Since you're here, let's go to the college entrance examination together."

Those were Xiran's exact words.

Yes, Xiran. He was actually home today.

Then Mu Miao received a body custom-made for him. Seeing his current appearance, Xiran, mistaking it for a change of preference, thoughtfully made the new body look exactly like Pei Nuo.

Mu Miao could foresee the shocked expressions of Pei Nuo's acquaintances upon seeing him.

Yin Jingnan was kept behind for a special lesson by Xiran, leaving only Mu Miao and the driver in the car.

The driver, a man in his fifties with silver threads in his hair, smiled kindly, "Young Master, you don't have to be so sad. The human world is quite fun."

The driver served the Yan family for generations and knew their extraordinary identities.

Mu Miao mumbled, "I know it's fun, but exams aren't fun at all. I don't want to take exams or do homework."

The driver chuckled, "Master Yan doesn't expect you to achieve excellent results.  It's about participation, at least to make up for this aspect. You won't regret it later."

Mu Miao, however, had another worry.  【001, now that I have a body, isn't that a breach of character design?】

001: 【Relax, your work hours are at night.  The silly old man pays less attention during the day. I'll help you get away with it.  Go to school and study hard for the college entrance examination!】

The last part was said with a hint of schadenfreude.

Mu Miao: "..."

No love.

Mu Miao was finally assigned to Class 1 of the third grade, the best class in the entire third grade. The head teacher, whose surname was Yu, was a man in his forties, who greeted him with a smile and led him to the classroom.

It was just after class, but Class 1 was full. Most students were reviewing or chatting. When they saw the teacher bringing in a boy, they all looked up curiously.

Teacher Yu enthusiastically introduced, "Classmates, this is our new transfer student, Mu Miao. Please get along well with him."

Mu Miao poked his head out from behind Teacher Yu, nodding shyly, his voice soft and sweet, "Hello, my name is Mu Miao."

Despite his nervousness, his bright, lively eyes looked at all the classmates. His crimson lips were slightly pursed, then, as if realizing he was too tense, his brows relaxed, and he smiled.

Someone in the class whistled, and the quiet classroom instantly became noisy. These were spoiled young masters and ladies who spoke without restraint.

"Mu Miao, you're so handsome, are you engaged?  How about trying my family?"

"Mu Miao, your skin is so fair! Do you exercise?  Are you soft or firm? You look so soft, you must feel nice to pinch."

"Want to sit by me? I can protect you. The people here are fierce, they can cry several of you with one punch. Come on, come on."

"Don't be shy, hahahahaha, your face is red, so cute, I want to make you cry by kissing you."

Mu Miao: "…!"

He looked at the girl speaking in horror.  She was supporting her chin with both hands, her tongue licking her crimson lips, smiling with malicious intent.

Teacher Yu coughed, "Alright, don't bully the new student. Now that you're all in the same class, you're a family, so you must be united and friendly."

A few mumbled "We know" responses could be heard.

Mu Miao finally chose a seat by the back window, mainly because his deskmate was the only one who hadn't participated in the commotion. His deskmate seemed solitary, his eyes half-lowered, showing an impatient expression.

Along the short aisle, Mu Miao politely declined several classmates' enthusiastic invitations.  Even after he sat down, several burning gazes were still on him, so he pretended not to notice, placing his new textbooks on the desk.

Jiang Qianliu's eyebrows furrowed slightly. He glanced at his new deskmate. The new deskmate was the type of cute boy that mature women liked. To be fair, he was indeed handsome.

However, he hadn't missed the other aura emanating from the new student—ghostly energy.

Jiang Qianliu's eyes darkened. This new deskmate didn't seem human.
