The tranquil and peaceful Yu Family Village was no more after nightfall. The villagers had extinguished their lights early, and even the usually mischievous children had obediently retreated into their beds, not making a sound.

The monsters, roaming through the fog, seemed to have made a pact, or perhaps were bound by some force, to not harm the sleeping people inside the houses.

However, they would climb onto the windows or squeeze through the cracks in the doors.  If anyone inside made a sound, the monsters would swarm out.

In the house occupied by the outsider, a pool of bloody mud seeped through the crack in the door, splattering onto the floor with a sickening thud. It wriggled towards the man inside.

The man's blanket trembled. He could feel the cold, fleshy mass approaching. His teeth chattered, his eyes squeezed shut, and his body was drenched in cold sweat. He prayed desperately for it to leave.

After a long silence, the man, clinging to a sliver of hope, opened his eyes. But the bloody mass hadn't moved. A rat was stuck in the mass, slowly being consumed.

The bloody mass still held a pair of eyeballs, and various organs, big and small, were vaguely visible. The way it devoured the rat was like a greedy fat man stuffing food into his mouth.

Disgust, nausea, terror...

A torrent of emotions overwhelmed the man. Unable to bear the torment, he fled from the house. When he saw the countless monsters outside, his mind completely shattered, and he wept uncontrollably.

He spotted a familiar face and scrambled towards him, calling out, "Save me! Li Cong, save me!"

Mu Miao was barefoot, and his delicate skin couldn't handle the rough ground. He walked for a short distance before refusing to go any further. His beautiful face remained emotionless, but he sniffed.

This person didn't smell good, nor would he be tasty.

He turned his gaze to Li Cong, sniffed his scent, and concluded: not as tasty as Yu Chen.

Just then, a large hand gently clasped Mu Miao's waist. He watched as the ground beneath him grew farther away, his bottom settling onto a sturdy shoulder.

Mu Miao's long legs swung in the air. He looked at the giant's plain-looking face and smiled, "Thank you."

A suspicious blush appeared on the giant's face. His voice was hoarse and rough, "...You...be...good...sit...tight."

Mu Miao was hungry and, to conserve energy, he leaned his head against the giant's cheek, "Mm-hmm, mm-hmm."

The giant's face turned even redder.

The little owl, seeing Mu Miao's change in position, quickly flew to his shoulder and rubbed against his face, "Woo~ woo~"

Its soft feathers tickled Mu Miao, "Hahaha, you're tickling me! Come sit in my lap, okay?"

And so, the little owl was treated like a doll and held in Mu Miao's arms.

Li Cong didn't share Mu Miao's carefree attitude.

The man's cries for help echoed in his ears. He lowered his head. He was self-aware enough to understand that the reason these monsters hadn't killed him was because he looked like a harmless, pretty little monster.

Li Cong saw that the bloody mass had already consumed half of the man's leg. He pursed his lips, "Mu Mu."

Mu Miao tilted his head to look at him. His name was difficult to pronounce, so familiar people simply called him Mu Mu. He was very sensitive to that name.

The evening wind was strong, billowing Mu Miao's oversized clothes, revealing his lean waist. He felt a draft around his waist and tugged at his clothes, but he ended up patching one hole while creating another, exposing a large patch of white skin on his upper body.

He clung to the giant's neck with his clothes askew, his voice lazy, "Hmm, what's up?"

Fortunately, from Li Cong's angle, he could only see Mu Miao's calves. Otherwise, his livestream would be lacking pants again.

Li Cong opened his mouth, hesitant to speak. He wanted Mu Miao to save the man, but on what grounds? They were players, opposed to the NPCs. He was only alive because of Mu Miao.

But Mu Miao had no reason to help him save someone else.

Li Cong appeared big and strong, simple-minded and brawn over brains, but he was actually very thoughtful in interpersonal relationships and wouldn't resort to moral blackmail.

Moreover, Mu Miao wasn't human…
