Until they reached the office, Director Wang didn't get a chance to say a word. As soon as he tried, Mu Miao would start crying and wailing. Eventually, he stopped shedding tears and just started howling, and it was clear to anyone that he was fake crying.Yet, Pei Qingye and Jiang Qianliu still bought into it, gently comforting him with soft words.
When Mu Miao entered the office, he looked around and, upon not seeing Song Qi, finally felt relieved.
He didn’t want to appear like a troubled student in front of Song Qi, always causing trouble and being called into the office.
Mu Miao sat on the couch and took the warm water offered by a female teacher, politely thanking her.
The female teacher gently patted his head, smoothing out his messy hair with a concerned tone, “It’s okay, little one, what happened? Did someone bully you? If you have any problems, make sure to tell your teacher.”
Director Wang’s tone was stiff, “Teacher Ning, this has nothing to do with you, please leave.”
Teacher Ning hesitated for a moment as she looked at Mu Miao before getting up and leaving.
Director Wang closed the office door and sat at his desk, drinking tea with a gloomy look on his face.
Mu Miao noticed a ghostly figure standing by the window. The boy’s school uniform was torn and ragged, and his exposed skin was bruised and purple.
There were deep marks on his neck, indicating how he died.
The boy stared at Director Wang with resentment, slowly moving toward him, but a transparent barrier stopped him from getting any closer.
Mu Miao remembered Jiang Qianliu's identity as a Daoist priest and subtly tugged at his sleeve, signaling for him to look at the boy.
Jiang Qianliu looked around but had a confused expression, as if he couldn't see the ghost.
Mu Miao almost blinked his eyes sore but couldn't understand why this person couldn’t see the ghost.
“Don’t be afraid.”
Pei Qingye, seeing Mu Miao staring at the ghost with red eyes, patted him on the back and whispered, “This ghost doesn’t seem to mean us any harm, so don’t worry.”
Clearly, Pei Qingye could see the ghost.
But Jiang Qianliu was still confused, looking perplexed.
Mu Miao moved a little to the side, away from Pei Qingye, and sat next to Yin Lin.
Bai Jialin quietly watched as Mu Miao moved from one man to the other, gripping his fingers tightly, nails digging into his palm. His gaze toward Mu Miao was filled with hatred, as though he wanted to rip him apart.
Mu Miao caught his gaze and, while no one was looking, arrogantly stuck out his tongue and made a face at him.
Bai Jialin took a few deep breaths to stop himself from losing control. His skills had been stolen, and the other person used his abilities to steal his home—he felt disgusted, like he had swallowed maggots.
Mu Miao, almost about to laugh in triumph, quickly buried his face in Yin Lin's neck, his body shaking slightly.
Yin Jingnan leaned in and whispered to him, “Don’t cry yet, save your tears. Wait for Xiran to arrive and cry in front of him. If not, I’ll hang up.”
Mu Miao gave him an ‘OK’ sign.
Yin Lin chuckled.
Pei Qingye looked at Mu Miao, who was now a tearful mess, and felt his heart tighten with a sour, swelling feeling. He awkwardly comforted him, “Brother, it’s okay, I’ll protect you. I’ll never let that bastard Zhong get away with it, I promise!”
