Flames licked the walls around me as I cradled Niko's head in my lap. He was unconscious, unresponsive and worrying me. Blood stained my hands, leaking from a wound in his side. Everyone was scattered around the warehouse in varying states: Kyel was face down on the floor, chest barely rising and barely falling. Leo was pushing himself up, a small trickle of blood trailing down his face, eyes glassy. Seb was stood with his siblings, Gracia's eyes were so full of betrayal as she stared Luke in the eyes.
"Niko, Niko sweetheart time to wake up, come on please!" I begged, gently tapping his cheek, but his eyes didn't open, remaining firmly in his unconscious state. The blast had left a ringing in my ears, my whole body in pain from the force of hitting the ground. But what did I matter when the love of my life, the one I had just found, just managed to convince to call me his boyfriend, was bleeding out and dying. Not to mention, Delilah-
Wait.
Where was Del?
I shifted, keeping Niko steady as I scanned the room, trying desperately to locate my sister. Any signs of her. The blonde hair. The green eyes. The cheeky smile. Where was she.
Niko let out a soft groan, eyelids fluttering as he began to wake up.
"Hey! Hey, shh, it's okay, it's okay sweetheart, I've got you," I murmured, still applying pressure to his side. His eyes opened fully, followed by a short gasp of pain as everything clicked into place. He tried to speak, but his voice came out a hoarse whimper.
"Don't try talk, it'll hurt too bad," I whispered close to his ear so he could hear me above the chaos, the voices, the pain. I pressed a soft, comforting kiss to his forehead, making sure he was comfortable despite the tear in his flesh. I looked up, shouting, "Guys I need a med kit right now!"
"Not happening, Warner!" Gracia yelled at me, scorn filling her normally so calm voice. "We have bigger problems than a paper cut on your boyfriend's side!"
"He is bleeding out, Gracia!"
"Okay? And your sister just got fucking kidnapped, what more do you want me to say?"
That hit me like a punch to the gut. Del. I had completely ignored my own flesh and blood, a girl who brought so much life into everyone's life, a girl who didn't deserve to be roped into this mess.
"Del- wait what?" I stammered, my voice barely registering in my throat. "She can't be? It was a bombing, a surprise!"
"Oh don't be a naive idiot, William," Luke chimed in, refusing to meet my gaze or his sister's gaze. "This was set up by Anderson. He wanted information and revenge so he took Delilah."
The world was running at one million miles an hour, each thought disorientated, every emotion stabbing in a far too familiar way, in a way only made better by hurting my body back. Delilah. Gone. Taken. Gone.
