I sat on the edge of the bed, my legs crossed beneath me, staring down at the photo I'd taken in the bathroom just hours ago.

My face glowed with the same mix of disbelief and cautious excitement I still felt now. In the mirror's reflection, my hand rested on my stomach—flat for now but holding the secret that was slowly sinking in. Pregnant. Not just with one baby, but two. Twins.

Look mi body neat and and trim and yah tell mi seh mi affi push out twins??

I shook my head, a soft laugh escaping my lips. "Twins," I murmured to myself, almost like saying it out loud would make it more real. I ran my fingers over the screen of my phone, still staring at the photo. It felt surreal, like this was happening to someone else and not me.

As the thought settled in, I suddenly realized there was someone I hadn't told. "Rawse mi Neva call mi mada," I exclaimed, quickly swiping to my contacts and hitting her number. She was going to kill me for waiting this long.

The phone rang twice before her familiar voice came through. "Oh suh yuh just a memba me eh?"

I chuckled softly, already picturing the playful smirk on her face. "It's not like that."

"Mhmm," she replied, her tone teasing. "Mi jus' kidding, baby. So, wah gwaan?"

I hesitated for a moment, my fingers fiddling with the edge of my blanket. Then, I took a deep breath and decided to get straight to the point. "Mi guh mi doctors appointment fi duh a regular checkup."

There was a brief pause on the other end before she squealed, her excitement spilling through the phone. "How it guh?"

I laughed, relieved at her reaction. "Everything good so far but guess wah?"

"Lawd hes as a wah now?" she asked, her tone now curious.

"I'm having twins," I said, the words feeling just as heavy as the first time I'd heard them.

Her scream this time was even louder, making me pull the phone away from my ear. "Twin?! Mi a guh get double? Lawd, mi cyaan believe dis! Mi so happy!"

Her joy was contagious, and I found myself smiling even wider. "Yeah, Mom. Twins."
