At the hotel, preparations had been completed and roles had been given. Now came the most tedious part of upcoming conflict, waiting for it to happen.
Everyone was just sitting around, having drinks or something. Emily noticed Velvette's look.
"Hey, let's go out and smoke." Emily said.
"What kind?" Velvette asked.
"Sloth, Lust, Greed; you name it." Emily said with a grin. "I've got as many cigarette/cigar brands as Husk has booze at the bar."
"Let's go with Lust." Velvette said as the two headed out the back of the building.
The two lit their cigarette's and Emily looked at her.
"What's on your mind?" Emily asked,
"... Verosika." Velvette said.
"Oooooh." Emily winced.
"Yeah." Velvette added, inhaling from her cigarette and blowing smoke out. "I hate her for what she did, I feel so used... but... I still am in love with her... I don't know what to do."
"Wish I could help." Emily said, shrugging. "Romance is not my thing."
"I know. I'd ask your sistah but she might still want to kill me for five years ago." Velvette said, blowing some more smoke out. "As for your dad, no offense, but he's still obsessed over that missing queen."
"Yeah, so... you're kinda on your own." Emily said, blowing her own smoke out.
"Yeah, figured." Velvette said, "On the bright side I probably won't be alive long enough to worry."
Velvette noticed something, there differnce in color concerning their second hand smoke .
'Why is my smoke a darker shade of blue?' Velvette thought, before shrugging it off, 'Probably just because I'm experiencing something that she isn't.'
"Hey! Don't say that, we're going to win this and you are going to survive." Emily said to Velvette.
"Are all angels this optimistic?" Velvette asked.
"Hey, if we're getting technical, you're an angel too." Emily said.
"That's besides the point." Velvette sad.
"Well, regardless of the point, being an Angel doesn't mean you can't still have hope. Be it on Earth, in Heaven, in Hell, or even in space beyond Earth." Emily said, taking a deep puff of her cigarette.
The two sat in silence for a few more minutes before Velvette spoke up.
"Do you really think we'll beat him?" Velvette asked, "That army has wiped out more than 20% of the population the last few years, there's no telling what they have planned next." Velvette said.
"... what's the world coming to if angels lose faith?" Emily asked, "We got this."
Emily ate the reat of her cigarette and nodded her head towards the door.
"Come on, let's get inside before the others get nervous." Emily said.
"What do they have to be nervous about? If we're making out?" Velvette joked.
"Ew. No offense and it's not just cuz I'm an ace aro but you're not my type." Emily said with a grin.
"Uh, excuse you, I've made succubus cum." Velvette said with a hand on her puffed up chest. "Anyone would be happy to be with me!"
"Mmmm, maybe but not me. I'm married to my job, booze, smokes, and food." Emily said as she playfully pats Velvette's face cheek. "Sorry but you're not any of those things."
