Back to where it all began

Enora's POV

I sipped the hot brewing tea my mother, Bella placed in front of me. Twenty-three years later and my mom, Bella is telling me about how she met my dad, Joseph but I was confused about why she was telling me now.

“So, Mom, did Barron return?” I asked.

“No,” she responded, locking her gaze to the ground, guilt obvious in her tone.

“What?!” I exclaimed.

“I know, Enora. I might have wished for it and the guilt haunts me till today.” She said,

“So what happened?” I asked.

“Barron was involved in a plane crash and no one survived. When I heard the news, my whole world came crashing down. I held a burial ceremony for him and drank myself almost to death grieving him that I lost my baby. Meanwhile, I had gone to visit your dad. Joseph was mad at me as well because of the connection I had with Tobias so he refused to speak to me.” She explained, taking her seat next to me.

“So how did both of you end up together?” I wondered where Dad and Nael were.

“After my husband's death, your dad visited me to see how I was doing and we started hooking up again, seeing each other and that's how we got married but..” my mother paused.

“Mum, c’mon don't leave me on the edge,” I protested.

“A few months with your father, Joseph, I got a call from a nurse. She was calling from a hospital in South Africa to tell me that Barron Nyrold survived the plane crash but lost his memory. She found my number on his phone and called to know if I'd like to come take him. I wanted to say badly but I couldn't, I was deep in with your father so I hung up and pretended that call never came in,” she explained. My butt was hurting from sitting for too long.

“Mom, I'm not going to judge you. I understand that you made so many wrong decisions but we are here, why are you telling me the fucking story??! I groaned.

“I know you are still mad that we moved and I'm making it complicated by telling you this but. When I came to drop Nael off at school after his appointment with the doctor, I saw Barron enrolling his son at your school. He looked at me and I saw the look on his face, Barron remembers it all and probably hates me. I want you to stay away from his son and make sure your brother doesn't get involved with him as well,” my mother said.

Omg, I know this definitely has to do with me and my twin brother now.

“What's the kid's name?” I asked while texting my friends informing them that there was a new boy.

“Jullian Nyrold,” my mom answered.

“Ok, mom. I'm going to stay away from the new boy Jullian Nyrold son of your ex-husband Barron Nyrold,” I said playfully and I saw that she didn't like it.

“Enora!,” she scolded.

“Mom, I promise,” I assured her.

“What the hell have you both been talking about, we left you guys sitting here,” Neal furrowed his eyebrows at my mom and me as soon as he walked in with my dad.

“Dad,” I pecked him and went into my room.

My name is Enora Smith, daughter of Joseph and Bella Smith. I have a brother, Nael Smith and I have one goal as it is, stay away from Jullian Nyrold at least for the rest of senior year. It's not going to be that hard, is it?

                          ________

“Enora, we need to leave now,” Nael barged into my room and yelled.

“Good morning to you too, brother,” I grinned happily at him.

“We are going to be late, " he emphasized impatiently.”

“Grab my bag and leave, if you join me in a minute.” I flashed him a beautiful smile.

He groaned and grabbed my bag, closing the door behind him. Nael is the school football team’s quarterback. He was caught vandalizing the principal’s office and was given a week’s detention but my parents are making him take me to school and bring me home instead of his silly girlfriend, Nadia who is the head of the cheerleading squad.

I grabbed my packaged breakfast and headed outside the house. I was met with the sight of an angry Nael tapping his leg on the ground repeatedly.

“Relax, I'm here,” I huffed, getting into the car.

Nael drives us to school while loudly vibing to one of his outrageously ridiculous playlists. We arrived at school just in time for the first period. The school year started two weeks ago so everyone was already getting along plus we have a new mean principal.

After the first period, for the first time since I enrolled at this school, the principal called me and I do not have an idea why.

“Enora Smith, please report to the principal’s office,” the announcement was reiterated.

I grabbed my books and shoved them into my bag, avoiding the questioning look of my friends, and went to the principal’s office.

“Miss Smith, take a seat,” the Principal seemed calm which meant there was nothing to worry about.

Usually, I'm being summoned because Nael has done something wrong or has refused to take his punishment for his wrongdoings.

“Why was I summoned?” I asked, taking my seat.

“As aspiring student body president, I would love you to welcome our new student, show him around, and take him to his classes for the rest of the week,” Principal Ripley said.

“A week?” I exclaimed. A part of my head held the fact that this new student might be Jullian.

“Yes, Miss Smith. Apparently, this kid is non-verbal and we would like him to feel welcome and comfortable,” He informed me.

“Non-verbal as in Autistic?” I raised an eyebrow.

“No, Miss Smith. Anti-social is a much preferable word,” He replied.

I sighed frustratedly, afraid to ask the real question.

“What's his name?” I asked.

“You have been paired with Jullian Nyrold and the other kid, Finn Newton has been paired with Miss Nadia.” Principal Ripley answered.

So much for staying away from Jullian Nyrold. I was about to ask if we could switch when Mr Ripley looked behind me and said “Good day, Mr Nyrold, you have such great timing”

Fuck.
