Rodrick led you through the city, hand tightly holding yours. He said you were going to need to walk since finding parking again would be a nightmare. As you walk through the city, Rodrick suggests you play a game.

"So, we just ask each other questions and the person has to answer? Isn't that just how conversations work?" You ask, trying to keep up with his long strides.

"Well, yeah. But you HAVE to answer. Otherwise, you have to do a dare." Rodrick moves to walk backwards on the sidewalk, adjusting his hand in yours to do so. He kept looking over his shoulder as he walked so he wouldn't bump into anyone.

"This just sounds like you don't know how to play truth or dare." You retort, wondering how he doesn't know this?

"Come on, it would be a good way for us to get to know each other! And with the dares, we can figure out each other's limits." He looks up through his lashes, his smile turning into something slightly sinister. You mentally shiver at what he might have planned for you.

"You probably just want to dare me to get naked in the middle of the street." You quickly say, trying to not give him ideas of what to dare you. But you couldn't help saying the thought out loud. Or maybe you just wanted to see his reaction.

"No I wouldn't." he retorts. "I already know you have a great body, that doesn't mean I want everyone else to know it too." He turns back around, walking by your side once more. His hand no longer holds yours but finds its way around your waist.

His confidence made you dizzy. Like, he just always knew what to say and how to say it to get a rise out of you. You couldn't help but blush at him.

You remember your time in the pool. How quickly you took your clothes off for him. You knew at the time you had told yourself that you were simply swimming and it was like being in a swimsuit. But now, you knew it was more than that.

Rodrick working out that deal with you was more than just sex. It was something you were craving. No, not like that (well, okay... Maybe like that), but you knew it was much much more than that. It was you growing up and rebelling for once. Sure, your rebellion started with the whole DNA thing and your dad, but this could be yours. No one else would know about this but you two. This could be yours to keep.

"Fine, I'll go first," You quickly get the words out, ensuring he can't go. "What's your greatest fear?" You jump slightly off the balls of your feet with excitement. You'll play along, but you're going to beat him at his own game.

"Starting off strong, I see." He smiles at you, warming your heart. You lean in closer to him, the cold of the night starting to set in. "I am very afraid of getting old." He says, matter-of-factly.

"Isn't everyone?" You laugh slightly, not trying to seem rude, but also not seeing his point.

"Well, yeah. Body sucks, you can't do all the things you used to be able to do. See, my grandpa, he's old. His hearing sucks. I just don't want to lose my ability to hear music." He looks straight ahead and it clicks for you. What else does Rodrick have? Music was the one thing he had shown true passion about. His mom was a mess, his dad you had no idea, Manny was a monster, and Greg was just beginning to become tolerable for you and probably others. You try to offer him some ideas.

"You know, deaf people, they use the vibrations of speakers to listen to music, if that's any consolation." You move your head to look up at him, your head just below where his collarbone starts.

Rodrick looks down at you, his arm growing tighter around your waist. He rolls his eyes, jokingly, and when his face becomes normal again; he kisses the top of your head, letting his lips linger.
