You waited in the park that was at the end of the street, wearing jeans like Rodrick requested. Your tanktop helped with the warmth, but the chill of the night was setting in which is why you wore an oversized flannel. You sat at the bottom of a slide, just waiting for him to show up. You didn't want to check your phone on any app to try and conserve battery. Who knew how long this date was if Rodrick said it was going to take an hour to get there?

The night was calm and quiet, the only sounds were your sneakers kicking the wood chips. You were personally someone who was early to everything because you were so afraid of being late. But then there was the Ultimate Wait for the event to finally happen because you had gotten there so early. Rodrick did not strike you as someone who does the same thing. Maybe he wouldn't be late or maybe he was someone who showed up right on time.

There was oddly still a part of you that thought this was unreal. Someone you met two days ago in a towel was taking you on a date. Of course, he was only taking you on this date to get to know you so the sex was more meaningful. What did he see in you? Was he doing all of this just so he had someone to sleep with?

It was those types of thoughts he would probably be upset at. You were quick to judge as a person, you knew it, Rodrick knew it.

As you sat on the slide, you thought you heard something from behind. Quickly turning, you were met with a large mass that ended up knocking you off the slide for a second before arms wrapped around your midsection, bringing you back onto the slide. Rodrick's arm's were warm and strong as they held you in place. You hit Rodrick's arm out of instinct. You twist your body slightly to see his reaction and he looks offended.

"You snuck up on me! I thought I was about to be murdered! You're having me wait all alone at this park in the middle of the night-" Your voice is in a whisper yell since you're upset, but don't want to wake the whole neighborhood. This whole meeting is supposed to be a secret.

"Okat, first off you were not all alone. I've been watching you for like the last 10 minutes at the top of the slide. Secondly, if I was a murderer, you have awful instincts because I could have killed you already." He says this with such conviction you know it's true. If he really was there for 10 minutes, he could have killed you. If he was a murderer anyway.

"Why didn't you say anything then?" You pull your head back slightly asking him, taken aback by how casual he was making this conversation.

"I like watching you. Plus, I thought it would be fun to go down the slide." He looks down his nose at you and smiles.

"You went down the slide right into my back. Where is the fun in that?" You ask. Fine, yes, it didn't actually hurt. If anything, the shock and embarrassment of being caught off guard hurt more.

"It ended in a hug. I thought it would be romantic." He nuzzles his head into your neck as he speaks and you stop breathing for a moment, stiffening under his affection.

"I'm not sure what's romantic about you almost knocking me off a slide and spiking my heart rate." You roll your eyes at him. Okay, maybe you were blowing this out of proportion, but what kind of date was this? He sneaks up on you, almost knocks you over, and finds it romantic? You had never been on a date, but you've read enough books and seen enough movies to know they do not start like this.

"I mean, yes, there are more romantic ways to spark your heart rate. Maybe we can explore that tonight?" You feel his lips curl against the space underneath your jaw, close to your ear. You quickly change the subject.

"So, where are we going for this date of ours?" You ignore how his chest feels against your back. The warmth his body was giving off as the air got cooler. You push away thoughts of his body being against yours.

"We need to get in a white van to an undisclosed location." He mumbles into your neck, and you almost didn't hear him. You take a heavy sigh before speaking again.

"You realize you're convincing me more and more that you ARE planning on murdering me, right?" You look into his eyes, knowing he's messing around with you.

He doesn't continue the conversation, but picks you up from his lap; lifting you off from the slide and setting you down on the ground. His arms still hold you from behind. Your height difference becoming very noticeable. He was able to rest his chin on top of your head. You feel him turn his head to rest his cheek on your head.

"What are you thinking right now?" You whisper as if someone would hear you. You know you should remind Rodrick that you kind of need to leave the park if you going to actually going to go on a date, but you don't want to seem rude or in a rush.

"I like holding you like this. Your hair smells nice." You then notice you can hear him inhaling through his nose.

You both stand there in the silence. Unsure of what to do, you continue to let him hold you.

He lets his arms fall away from you and moves to stand next to you. He grabs your hand and begins walking you towards the white van, which he wasn't kidding about.

"Okay, you have got to be fucking with me right now! You realize this looks like a kidnapping, right?" You laugh as you make your comment realizing the situation looks bad. No one knows you're out late at night meeting Rodrick. He lets your hands swing between the two of you.

"Is it really kidnapping when you are willingly getting in and you're in your twenties?" He raises his eyebrows at you seriously and you definitely see his point.

He opens the door to his van to let you in. This really was starting to feel like a date. Here he was, being a gentleman. Except for the slide attack. That was an idiot move. Who watches someone waiting for them?

As you get into the car, you watch as he makes his way towards his door. You place your hands on your knees, grateful to be inside somewhere a bit warmer than outside. You think there must be a storm coming from the temperature drop.

You notice his van seems normal enough, some garbage here and there, but nothing disgusting. When you look into his backseat, you notice there are actually no seats. Maybe he uses it to haul large things? Rodrick climbs into the van and you decide to ask him again what you were doing tonight. The suspense was actually killing you.

"So, Rodrick, where are we actually going tonight?" you say, putting on your seatbelt.

"We are going to spend our night in the city. I want to show you the lights, the sights, and hopefully a good time." He starts his van and begins pulling away from the park. His hands rest on the steering wheel.

It takes a moment in your brain for it to click. Planview was in New York State, just a half hour away from Long Island. It then hits you. What city is an hour away from you?

"We're going to the city? As in, New York City?" You ask, mouth agape.
