Chapter 4

As we pull up to my house, I grow excited when I see my dad's old 1970 red mustang in the driveway. Which means only one thing, Adam's home.

I run out of the car, hearing Kate softly chuckle. I struggle to open the door from the fact my hands are shaking so much. The door finally unlocks and I fling it open.

"Adam! Adam!" I yell. My voice vibrating against the walls. I hear footsteps lightly hitting the stairs. When I turn around my smile grows wider.

The last time I saw my brother was when I first got sick. He would call all the time but it just wasn't the same as seeing him in person. My brother and I have always been close. He took care of me and mom when dad died but even before then we were joined at the hip.

He may be taller than me by a lot but we still have a lot of the same features. He has the brown hair, hazel eyes, and tan skin that runs in our family. He has definitely grown recently and gained more muscle, but to me he is still my lame, scrawny older brother.

"Hey care bear." He calls me by my nickname while opening his arms. I immediately run into them. Receiving a chuckle from him. "I missed you" I said as I tighten my grip. "I missed you too". He kisses my head.

"How has college been? and Paisley?" I ask him. He shrugs his shoulders

"Its been good, crazy and boring, but good. Paisley has been great. She loves all the wedding planning. She'll be coming here when it gets closer to Christmas"

Paisley was my brothers high school girlfriend, now fiancee. I love their relationship, they just show so much love for each other

"Well I can't wait for her to come, I miss her so much" I said smiling

"Is no one missing me? Wow, feeling the love you guys". I completely forgot Kate was still here. I let go of Adam so he can say hi to her.

"What's up Kate" he says while messing up her hair. "Not much you?" She wacks him in the shoulder. Unlike me and Adam, Kate acts as a bro to him. Like really good buddies. Its funny to watch sometimes.

" ah you know, just came to see my baby sis when she needs me" he looks at me and smiles.

" chemotherapy hasn't started yet Adam, so I don't need you now." I head to the kitchen. Soon followed by my brother and best friend. "Yeah but its starting soon. And you have an appointment tomorrow. You know I don't like missing them Care bear."

"I know, but really its nothing." I reassure him. I go to the cabinet and grab a glass. I then walk over to the sink and pour me some water.

"Are you sure you don't want me to go? You know I would ditch school for you in a heart beat. Even John." Kate asks. She sits down on one of the stools while giving me a pleading look.

"Like I said before, its not the big appointment. Its just an appointment to get some more meds and plan the date for the big appointment." I put my glass down and hesitate before adding, "besides, I want you all at that one."

"And we will be there. All of us." Adam said.

"I love you guys. You know that right?" I asked

"Yes. And we love you." Kate comes up and hugs me.

"You're my bitch to my queen, of course I love you."

"Thanks Kate" I softly giggle at her.

We all watch movies and eat pizza the rest of the night. Eventually mom comes home from work and joins us. But soon after she heads to her room. Kate leaves a little after that wishing me good luck for tomorrow. I hop back onto the couch next to my brother.
