Kairi sat on a tall rock next to Ace as they ate. From afar, someone watched them.
"This is all the breakfast we get?!" Usopp asked.
"Seconds!" Luffy yelled.
"Aw, come on!" Usopp complained as Sanji kicked both of them in the face.
"Don't be greedy. You've had enough for one meal." Sanji said and Kairi jumped down from her spot.
"Here, Luffy. You can have mine." Kairi said handing him her plate.
"Thanks, Kairi!" He said chomping down on it.
"Kairi, you didn't have to give him your food." Sanji said.
"It's fine." She said jumping back up to the rock where Ace was now cleaning his fork.
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay, Kairi? You didn't have to give him your food." Ace said and she grinned.
"I'll be fine." She reassured.
"Well, if you say so." Kairi leaned on Ace and sighed.
"You seem distant."
"No. Just thinking." Once everyone was done, Nami used the sand to put out the fire.
"Well, it's time we get going." She said and seen Zoro and Luffy were still arguing. "Knock it off, you two! Now!" She bonked both of them on their heads. "Now hurry and clean up! We're leaving for Yuba! Look at this mess."
"Wow, awesome! Floating meat!" Luffy said and Kairi looked over to see someone trying to take the meat by using a fishing pole. Ace and Kairi followed the two kids.
"Yea, we never got a scrap of meat in the badlands." One of the kids said.
"Aw, the Badlands, huh?" Ace asked and Kairi and him crouched down on a rock behind the kids. "So that's where you're from, huh? Smells good, you enjoying it?" Ace's smile dropped.
"Stay back! I mean it!" The older one said, putting his hand out, pushing his younger brother behind him.
"You can't have the food back, we ate it!" The older one took out a gun and pointed it at them.
"You-You move a muscle and you're dead!" He yelled. Ace smirked and chuckled.
"As a general rule, I'm not fond of people pointing guns in my face." He said.
"Dip, listen. Have you ever shot a real gun before? Will it really shot bullets?" The younger one asked as the older one turned it on Kairi. Ace narrowed his eyes at the kids.
"I don't know! Hold on, I'm gonna..."
"No!" The younger one yelled pushing the kids arms and the gun went off, the bullet heading straight at Kairi. In an instant, Ace took a rock and countered the bullet with the tiny rock.
"Wh-What happened?"
"You're playing a dangerous game kid. Especially shooting at my sister." Ace said standing up and Kairi stood up as well. "Never draw on someone unless you can hit your marks."
"He bounced a bullet right back with a rock." Dip, the older one said and Kairi sighed.
"Way to scare them." She muttered. "I could have dealt with that bullet easily, you know."
"Sorry, it's a reflex. Besides, you're my younger sister. Even if you can handle it, I'm supposed to protect you. That's what us brothers decided on long ago."
"Yea, I remember."
"What's up?" Usopp asked walking up from behind Kairi and Ace. "Who are they?" They dropped the gun and the older one ran forward.
