The next morning, as the sun filtered through the palace windows, Taehyung sat in his private study, staring at the ancient scrolls spread across his desk. The royal pin lay in front of him, gleaming faintly, almost as if mocking him with its mystery. His mind churned with questions that had plagued him since Daek Kyun's death: Why Jungkook? Why hadn’t anyone ever pursued his mother or grandmother when they had possessed the pin? And why did the power seem to awaken now?

He ran a hand through his hair, frustration mounting as he read the passages over again. The ancient texts he had unearthed spoke cryptically of the pin’s true purpose. It was said to be more than an artifact—it was a key, capable of unlocking a great power destined to reshape the world. But the texts also warned that the power could only be realized through a chosen bloodline.

“Chosen,” Taehyung muttered under his breath. “But what makes Jungkook the target?”

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. Jungkook entered hesitantly, holding a tray with tea and light snacks. "You missed breakfast again," he said softly, placing the tray down.

Taehyung looked up, surprised. He hadn’t realized how much time had passed. "Thank you," he murmured, watching as Jungkook busied himself arranging the tea set. His heart ached slightly—after all the chaos, Jungkook was still here, still quietly trying to care for him.

Jungkook hesitated before speaking, his voice barely audible. "Is this about Daek Kyun? Or the pin?"

Taehyung nodded, gesturing for him to sit. “Yes. There’s something I don’t understand. The pin has been in my family for generations. My mother wore it, as did my grandmother. But no one ever tried to take it from them. Yet now… everyone is after you.”

Jungkook’s hands tightened on the hem of his hanfu. “Maybe… it’s because of you.”

Taehyung raised an eyebrow. “Me?”

“Yes.” Jungkook met his gaze, determination flickering in his eyes. “The texts you’ve read—they say the pin’s power is tied to a chosen bloodline. What if it’s not just about me, but about us? Together.”

Taehyung leaned back, the weight of the realization settling over him. Jungkook was right. The pin had remained dormant for generations, but the moment Jungkook entered the royal family, the game changed. The potential of their union—a bloodline born from both Jungkook and Taehyung—was what everyone feared.

“It’s not just about power,” Taehyung said, piecing the puzzle together. “It’s about destiny. Daek Kyun knew that if we ever had an heir, that child would become the ruler destined to change everything. He was trying to stop that from happening.”

Jungkook’s face paled. “Does that mean others will come? Even after Daek Kyun is gone?”

Taehyung’s jaw tightened, his protective instincts flaring. “Yes. They won’t stop, not as long as you have the pin and the potential to bear an heir.”

“But why me? Why not your mother or grandmother?” Jungkook asked, his voice trembling slightly.

Taehyung’s gaze softened. “I think it’s because the pin responds to more than just blood. It responds to the strength of spirit, to love, to purity of heart. My mother and grandmother were powerful women, but they didn’t have… what we have.”

Jungkook blinked, his cheeks flushing slightly. “What do we have?”

Taehyung hesitated, then reached out, taking Jungkook’s hand in his. “We have something real. And that terrifies them more than anything. They know we’re stronger together, and they’ll do anything to tear us apart.”

Jungkook’s fingers tightened around Taehyung’s. “Then we won’t let them. We’ll protect each other, no matter what.”

Taehyung nodded, determination burning in his eyes. “I’ll strengthen the palace security, and I’ll personally investigate anyone who dares come near you. We’ll uncover the full truth about the pin and its power, and we’ll make sure no one can use it against us.”

For the first time in days, Jungkook felt a flicker of hope. Though the path ahead was uncertain and dangerous, he knew one thing for sure: he wasn’t facing it alone. Taehyung was by his side, and together, they were unstoppable.

As the moon rose that night, Taehyung stood on the balcony, the pin in his hand. He vowed to protect Jungkook and their future, no matter what enemies they faced. The pin was no longer just a symbol of power—it was a bond between them, a promise that their love would endure.
